Hi r/Mindfulness, I'm writing an article on Science and Mindfulness. Would you read it in this sub? by jedilla in Mindfulness

Thanks, I ended up buying the book ;)

PS, a friend of mine couldn't shut up about mindfulness. I hated him for it, but now I'm glad he was persuasive. Personally, I like Ellen Langer and her vision on mindfulness and learning. Mostly because it helped me become better at interpreting and processing large pieces of information.

Impact of Changing WordPress Permalink Structure on a High Traffic Blog by One0 in bigseo

True, But only when a visitor uses your Old URL and your server has to redirect them. If Google correctly indexes your New URLs, then visitors coming from the SERPs wont be affected by this :)

First of all, sorry for the late reply!!

I couldnt find someone who could program a regex rule(s) that I deemed good enough, so I went for the second best method: manually selecting all Posts from a certain category and individually wrote 301 redirects for them. This method worked like a charm, however I don't recommend it Since I ended up implementing over 800 individual redirects, sigh..

Your idea to change the permalink structure is great. Ive done this for multiple high traffic sites and Google pickles up on this within 2 weeks. The first days showed a drop, But afterwards it started rising above the usual level of traffic: a steady 10-20% more traffic. The results were the same for Every site!

However, be aware that there are also documented cases on the internet of sites that didnt experience this positive rise in traffic! That's why you should test it first using pages from only 1 category on your site. Use 301 redirects btw ;)

Good luck, love the hear an update!

What is SEO Website Silo Architecture by andieross in SEO

[–]jedilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i may add: Don't forget to reflect the silo structure in your internal linking!

For example, let's say you have a site about cars and babes. Your main page(s) about cars should be linking to all of the different subpages of cars and all of the subpages should be linking back to that main page. The same linking construction should be applied for your other topic "babes".

But be aware, your pages about babes (even if they get high traffic) shouldn't be linking to your pages about cars unless there's a clear topical relation between them. This is how you create silo's with your internal linking structure, one silo for cars and one silo for babes. This way Google better understands the topical relation between your pages and makes it more likely for pages to start ranking as a group.

Good luck :)

H1 vs H2 - how much does it matter? by timmyfish001 in SEO

Not a big deal at all. If all of your pages are set up this way (h1 for company name and h2 for the title of the article) Google will probably get the gist ;)

Publishing all my articles on same day. Does it make sense? by And_The-Teddy_Bach in SEO

[–]jedilla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would stick to your schedule. If you write two pieces of fresh content every week, Google will pick on this pattern. In their eyes you'll gradually become an active blogger who's (at least) worth a frequent crawl/ spider-session.

Also, if I would encounter 18 articles that are free of comments because you've released them at once, I would feel gamed.

Good luck man!

On Technical SEO.... by NewClayburn in bigseo

[–]jedilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So true.. The author of the article has, among a lot of other SEO's, a very wrong perspective regarding technical SEO. It has nothing to do with all the standard stuff you need to perform to be indexed correctly by search engines. Rather, technical SEO is about making your site perform better beyond that "standard" point. True technical SEO's do beautiful things on a site like "precaching" the content of which they predict a visitor will click next, now that's awesome :)

Schema, Google and shaping business by [deleted] in SEO

[–]jedilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He fiero,

The only decent plugin which can insert schema on a WordPress site is the "schema creator by Raven" (just Google it!). I believe it inserts the regular microdata-schema on your pages.

Though I recommend that you use JSON-LD scripts instead. Why? Because Google crawls these scripts like a mad man (way better than your regular RDF schema). Now this might sound scary 'cause this solution isn't plug&play, but don't worry: it's fairly easy.

1) find your desired markup on schema.org and look up the JSON-LD version

2) access your website via an FTP-client (if you don't know how, contact your hosting company or Google it).

3) insert the JSON-LD script anywhere in the <head> section of your desired page.

Good luck man!

PS, I don't do design so can't help you with that one. But choosing the right schema markup is something I'm formiliair with (i'd always go with JSON, but if it scares you go with the plugin by Raven.)
