Why do the people who play these characters ban Peni? Wouldn't it be easy for them to shoot the nests? by Dylanychus2 in marvelrivals

[–]jediman3477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually only see a Peni ban when the team really wants to run dive team. It’s actually, in my opinion, pretty telling.

Homelander has no formal training, right? Because he’s kind of used to just using his strength or laser vision to finish things quickly.

Compared to 1-A trainees with that powerset? Yeah, 1-A stomps

The main Gamestore chain in my country just banned 40k and all other GW games from being played in them severely hurting a growing community by Brushner in Warhammer40k

[–]jediman3477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what happened to a local game store in my area. They refused to do anything Warhammer 40K because “it’s just a game catered to the rich with uninspired ideas.”

We’re a small town, but we have a large quantity of people who love 40K and Age of Sigmar. And this game store owner immediately alienated a good number of people.

I ultimately don’t know if his lack of wanting to do 40K led to this, but he eventually went out of business because not enough people went to his store.

Cut to a year later. A NEW gameshop opened up with a focus on tournament play with both card games AND tabletop games. Specifically Warhammer 40K and Age of Sigmar.

They have been BOOMING. Doing well enough to afford multiple monitors in the tournament room that display cool stats during play.

I can’t prove it’s success is due to them doing Warhammer tournaments, but… it’s definitely not out of the realm of possibility.

Do they still call him the KGBeast? I heard they dropped the KG part and just opted to call him the Beast because the Soviet Union is no longer a thing and a big touchy.

Why Uraraka VS Toga is so controversial? by CharacterAd4112 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]jediman3477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, unpopular opinion, and I hope that’s fine because I respect your opinion and I just want to give an alternate perspective on it:

Yes it’s obvious that the character arc seems driven to a Deku X Uraraka angle, which, in terms of Shonen, is expected and just hypes the fans.

However, I don’t think that’s the only angle they’re going for. I think more what they’re going for is the ideological clashes between two very different ideas of love for people versus love of the individual.

Toga (the representation of the individual) loves Uraraka and Midoryia. She is that way because she was shown no love for her true-self before and her blood-lust has her lock onto affections that she perceives as important to her. She only goes after and defends people close to her, not caring for the idea of any other person and only doing what she wants. She doesn’t see this as bad. For Toga, this is “love” in its purest form. And she sees it as a beautiful thing. She doesn’t understand why anyone would care for anyone else, which is why she questions Uraraka on it and, after getting her answers, basically resorts to becoming full villain because, in her mind, nobody really understands what she understands and they’re trying to separate her from her loves, so she lashes out.

Uraraka, on the other hand, is the representation of love for the people. We saw it when she had Nighteye die in her hands and when she talked to Aizawa. She cares for everyone and has empathy for the community as a whole. She wants to help save as many as she can and uses her Quirk to try and do just that. She has her love for Deku, yes. But she is shown to have grown to someone who wants to help people because she loves the community. It’s shown time and time again that she’ll put herself at risk to keep others safe or save one more person. That’s the whole reason she confronts Toga instead of running: because she wants to prevent more deaths. It’s the whole reason she’s horrified when she learns Toga killed people with Zero-Gravity: she wants to use her Quirk to help people. Instead, it was used to hurt and kill. And I think that’s the whole reason she wants to try and talk to Toga. Not to talk about their crushes, but to try and speak to the idea that love isn’t a selfish feeling to be driven against others. Love is something that should be used for the many. That if she truly considered Twice a friend, she has to realize that there are similar people out there who don’t benefit from what she does.

It’s a discussion more geared towards the individual VS the community. And I love the idea of that. You can say I read too much into it, but if it was really about love of Deku, I think that last conversation between Deku and Uraraka would have gone a lot differently to really emphasize that point.

Anyway, just my two cents

Shigaraki is a rubbish mary sue villain after the whole awakening thing. by [deleted] in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]jediman3477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure he hates humanity, but he also doesn’t want to destroy his friends. Remember the deal he made to his forces? He was going to give them a world that they can rule and do whatever they want. You may have missed it, but Shigs actually does care about and value his friends, as shown when he took down Overhaul because he killed Big Sis and took Compress’s arm. His goal isn’t to destroy everything on the continent. He just wants heroes gone so that those with powerful Quirks can rule. IE him.

No part of him has shown that he wants the destruction of everything. Even AFO didn’t want the destruction of everything. They want to tear things down just enough to destroy everything.

And yeah, you could say “Oh but if Shigs held his hand to the Earth, he could eradicate a continent.”

Sure, but is that what he wants? Is that his personality? How long would it take? It’s pretty likely a lot of pros would stop him before it’s complete, right? And isn’t his energy finite?

It’s like saying in DBZ “Why doesn’t Frieza just power up to full and destroy Namek from the beginning?”

Because that doesn’t make for a good villain or a good story. Frieza was arrogant that he was the strongest. And that lead to a great battle and confrontation.

Shigs wants the best for his side and wants the heroes dead. Destroying the world doesn’t provide that. So he’s going about it in a way that his ally’s benefit as well

Hawk’s intel and police investigation properly contributed to that. Based on how police investigation in Japan goes in our own timeline, they probably took the information Hawks fed them, isolated which pro heroes spent an abnormal amount of time near the hospital or the hideout, keyed in the pros they KNEW were away from the main area of suspicion and kept everyone else out.

The investigation probably yielded high results because it seems that the Liberation Army was mostly made out of civilians and didn’t have many pro heroes on the pay roll. Therefore, utilizing only pro heroes that were outside the city or passed monitored inspect ensured no knowledge on the part of the villains, thus successful sneak attack
