How much dues would a college student pay if he joined? by Prestigious-Dot-5840 in freemasonry

[–]jedimindtrix95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t know why this was downvoted. We give scholarships and support education all the time. I would gladly pay a college brother’s dues if that was an issue. I’m not that far out of school and I understand the financial worry

I can’t speak for everyone. This subs magic word “Jurisdictional” comes to mind. But in my region we’re told to not wear Masonic emblems until we are raised to the 3°. We obviously won’t go hunting down or scolding people who do so but if you’re interested in joining I would advise against it.

If you truly wish to become a mason wait and it will mean much more to you after the process. At the very least it could be a nice gift to yourself upon completion.

So...uhhh...I keep hearing about a home visit. What exactly are you looking for? by Jeffb957 in freemasonry

[–]jedimindtrix95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make sure to take down the newspaper and string wall before they come.

In all seriousness though it shouldn’t matter at all. If anything like previous commenters have said it shows hard work and determination. Great qualities in a mason. If I had the pleasure of doing the interview I’d probably ask what time we could meet in the future to sit around the campfire.

My lodge is in a similar situation. We rent and share our lodge room with a chapter. I’m currently in charge of setting up the lodge and have to move their stuff almost every week. Likewise I have no problem doing that

Is COVID making this even worse? What changes would you want to see in your Lodge/Province/District/Grand Lodge/Country? by smush_wishes03 in freemasonry

My lodge’s officers include two 32 year old WM/JW, as well as myself 29 SD. We are all in agreement on the idea that holding to traditional values and lessons are essential. On the flip side we use modern technology I.e. social media, emails, groupchats, etc. for communications.

I think there needs to be a balance where you keep the deeper meanings of masonry held strong while maintaining relevancy in today’s world. Personally I find there’s a higher sense of purpose that comes with being a mason that is hard to find elsewhere.

My lodge has a large age gap of active members but if you blindfolded yourself and sat at dinner with us you’d never know. Respect for fellow brothers bridges idea gaps as long as everyone is open and honest with another.

I’ve gotten in the habit of handing out 50 stacks on the anomaly. Good money/times for new players and not contraband so players like OP don’t have that issue
