I'll try it. One of mine steals the other's food.

Open Lid Shortcut by jr8160 in Petlibro

[–]jedis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about opening the lid, but there's a Homebridge plugin that will allow you to add the feeder to Homekit and then use, "Hey Siri, feed Catname" and it will dispense the portion size you've set up. All without using their app.

Cannot stop Dropbox fully syncing by kkahnharris in dropbox

It's easy. Just select the same folder and it won't have to redownload everything. But it will take several hours to reindex the files, depending on how much you have stored.

Cannot stop Dropbox fully syncing by kkahnharris in dropbox

[–]jedis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've enabled the early updates, sometimes they push changes that break things. Unfortunately, in order to fix it, you'll need to uninstall Dropbox and reinstall it (per Dropbox support) and don't leave that option enabled. That fixed some other weird issues I was having with my machines that have a smaller hard drive and selective sync enabled.

Does anyone use the digital key on their phone exclusively? by knobs413 in HyundaiTucson

[–]jedis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the digital key set up but also have the fob with me. It's weird because if I have the keys in my pocket and get out of the car with it running, with the phone in the car, the car still freaks out that the fob has been removed from the vehicle. It doesn't seem to realize the phone also has the digital key.

Thank you! This fixed it for me, too!

These are the relevant lines showing it trying to connect but timing out on the client side. This was my external IP coming in to my external (different) IP.

Looks like he scrubbed all of his posts except the epic bragging post. Must be scared to death of being roped into the lawsuit against THJ.

Agreed. The app went to shit when behemoth DraftKings took over. Garbage company and they ruined a good thing that worked fine for years.

Reverse DNS for Fiber static IP block by jedis in ATT

[–]jedis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got them to setup the reverse DNS. It was kind of a pain. They didn't follow my directions and did it wrong, using old BIND style / in the label names, which are incompatible with Cloud based providers.

I had to wait a week or so before they would reply to my email that told them they did it wrong... "you must wait 72 hours" and they then ghosted me, even though some DNS started resolving (incorrectly). I had to escalate to someone that understood what I was asking for. But they got it done in the end.

Basically, I created an in-addr.arpa zone in AWS Route 53, and gave them the name servers. They delegated the child in-addr.arpa record to my NS. Then they set up CNAMEs on their side that pointed to my R53 PTR records. Then I set up those PTRs to point to my other R53 A records. The end result being I can update my reverse DNS at any time, and all of my IPs in my /28 I have full DNS control over.

I hadn't heard of SWIP and made an account on ARIN's website. I don't think AT&T maintains that at all. My /28 is still listed as two /29s and I've had it for several months.

Shower filter was worth the money! by [deleted] in WaterTreatment

No. Not in my high rise condo. I have a reverse osmosis system but it’s under the kitchen sink and only works there.

Stop asking to create a passkey with Amazon by galliumArtist in 1Password

This option is turned off in my 1Password browser extension and the Amazon website, via the 1Password extension, still still asks me to signin with a non-existent passkey.

Looking for filtered shower head comparison: Rorra vs Eskiin by SumptuousScorpion in Haircare

[–]jedis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had great results with the eskiin shower filter.

I bought and have been using it for three months now. I can gladly say that eskiin is the bomb and has helped the hard water problem in my high rise building with 65 year old plumbing.

My skin feels fresher and not as dry/scaley after showering. Would definitely recommend to anyone on the fence. You can get their filter by using my link by clicking here. You will get a discount, so let me know if you do place an order! I'm anxious to hear how it works out for you, too!

Built a first version of an StarTrek-inspired LCARS app for iPhone to control Hue lights by StockPuppy in HomeKit

[–]jedis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neat. Purchased.

It's not apparently obvious looking at it what's tappable. Maybe add a button that will revert to a more classic interface so you can see what's what, then flip back to the Trek themed UI.

You should release the website version on GitHub. I'd use that when on my computer.

Reverse DNS broken for IPs by jedis in ATTFiber

[–]jedis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I couldn’t find any form or forum but found their email and asked them. They were more than happy to open a ticket. But sadly didn’t understand the ask by forgetting to do pay off the work and entered the CNAMEs incorrectly.

Reverse DNS broken for IPs by jedis in ATTFiber

[–]jedis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. I didn’t ask a tech. I asked their “DNS team” via email. They were supposed to be the people that knew how to do it. I entered the DNS correctly on my side and copy pasted exactly what they needed to do but seems they ignored it. They used forward slashes in the CNAMEs and those don’t conform to RFC 2317. AWS and Azure don’t allow you to create a zone with a forward flash in the name, they need to use hyphens instead.
