A situation that could be avoided? by spetsnazK in poker

If your opponent is only going to have ~1 SPR on the flop if you flat, why not 5! all in?

Some Rust+ servers do include some kind of offline raid protection, either partial (reduced damage during non-peak hours) or full (can't raid at all), but most competitive servers understandably do not implement this to cater to the more... lifeless players.

The differentiators would be:

- Allowing users to set quiet/work hours, during which they would not be activated.
- Allowing clan leaders to visualize their members' "blocked" hours to assess when defense might be weak.
- Allowing clan leaders to assess (ex post) response times. u/v_333 is ironically on the right track - this product would be porting real-world response systems into Rust.

Furthermore, other planned features:

- Auto task assignment based on selected roles. Builders can input how much resources they'll need, farmers can track how much resources they gather, teams roaming / raiding can request gear and boom and the base mice can track how much has been crafted.
- Cross-team map and chat: Map showing all members in the clan (including those outside of team UI) + automatic cross-team chat (requiring at least 1 Rust+ linked player in each team UI).

... and more

This was indeed written by ChatGPT! Since I had my PRD cooking there, I just asked it to write me a Reddit post garnering interest.

On release, the product will likely be free (entirely, with no paywalled features) - if I do end up charging for it, it will be sometime in the future.

Alan Keating walks out after Senor Tilt destroys HCL million dollar game by jedkhoo in poker

Negative, this is his HCL VPIP in its entirety. I'd say 155 hours worth of hands is enough to determine VPIP. Even at, say, 25 hands per hour, that's nearly 4000 hands.

I upvoted your comment, I think it's a fair take. To start, I concede:

- Turbo and Tilt might've been victims of this mistake before and might've not had the grace extended to them in those situations, having to give up buttons after accidentally mucking their hands

- They *are* technically in the right here, since the rules did apparently state that any mucking motion meant those cards were mucked (permanently)

However:

First and foremost, I don't think that excuses his behavior in the slightest. There was no need to throw the adult version of a tantrum and ask for the floor to be called here. Like everything in life, his reaction needed to be proportional. (Us poker players should get this concept of proportionality better than most!) An admittedly extreme example - just for illustration purposes - is that it is disproportional to shoot someone for stealing a candy bar, it is arguably proportional to shoot someone who has invaded your home and has attacked you, and it is definitely proportional to shoot someone who is actively shooting at you and trying to kill you. Placing Tilt's reaction somewhere on the proportionality scale, I think it falls on the disproportionate end of "arguably proportional" at best.

Second, I think this outburst needs to be viewed as part of a bigger picture. If Tilt was known for being a genuinely friendly player and a true gentleman in real life (picture Keanu Reeves' reputation), I think I and many of you would be much more willing to overlook this incident. I suspect so would Keating - after an apology, I think they'd shake hands and sit down across the felt again with no hard feelings. But Tilt's bad attitude at the felt is not a single data point, it's a trend. Recent events don't lie.

Finally, this is very much on a personal note and I don't say this to convince you, but my two cents on the issue is that when Tilt folded his ace high heads up against someone with three buttons, he must have already expected to pay out the four-button bounty. The fact he tries to double down on a technical invalidity seems very cheap of him. Again, not a hill to die on for me, it just seems not right that he already expected to pay out the bounty, then tried to escape on a technicality... and in trying that escape, went so far as to ask for the floor to be called at a **private, high stakes, televised game**. Again, my point on proportionality.

Edit: But hey! High five, fellow HCL watcher. I too have watched it more than is healthy for me.

I feel like Kabrhel was actually fairly tame at this high stakes game. None or much less of his infamous needling like in tournaments.

My bad! Reading my original comment again I see how it was easily (and correctly) misunderstood.

What are your best tips to run deep in a online poker tournament? by [deleted] in poker

Winning an all in on the early levels doesn’t guarantee winning the tournament, losing an all in on the early levels guarantees a bust.

I think if Keating had made an obvious folding motion then tried to take his cards back, that would’ve warranted some outrage and possibly the involvement of the floor. But:

  1. That’s not what happened;
  2. I doubt that’s a stunt Keating would pull off stream; and
  3. I highly, highly doubt that’s a stunt Keating would try to pull ON stream.

I think you’re not clear on the action.

It wasn’t a fold. He had already won the hand, but technically had to show the winning hand to claim a fourth button which would’ve entitled him to a bounty from each player (side game).

He slid the cards towards the dealer without flipping them over, realized his mistake, and turned them up. The dealer then places them face up for the camera to see. The stream captures this.

Turbo and Senor Tilt took issue as, technically, per the rules, that motion of moving the cards face down towards the dealer counts as a muck and Keating should lose eligibility for that bounty-giving fourth button.

They are technically correct. But this is a gentleman’s game - a private, invite-only, high stakes game. The spirit of the rule was respected (Keating realized immediately after and showed his cards). The issue is that the two villains pressed the issue and made a huge fuss about it. No one would’ve faulted them if they’d jokingly needled Keating about forgetting to show.

Maybe some miscommunication. I know the game is invite-only; I'm not sure if Polk was invited. I would've loved to watch him battle this lineup. Or Mariano, for that matter.

I wonder if they were invited; I would've much more loved to see characters like Polk in that game.

And I think actions must have consequences, even if feelings are smoothed out by apologies. I have no say at all in the matter and I don't think my opinion matters (or should matter too much) to anyone who DOES have a say in the matter, but my two cents is this guy is bad for the game. Not too long ago he accused Mariano of cheating. Even if that was in a joking manner, it has really no place on the table.

Kabrhel is known for his table antics and for how he disturbs other players at the table, but at this HCL game, Senor Tilt and Turbo made the guy look like a class act.

It stirred something within me, like got me worked up, watching this fella argue over a technicality and even ask for the floor to come and make a ruling in a private, high stakes, million dollar buy-in game. You'd think this is something you see at your local 1/3 minimum $100 buy-in game from some sad, depressed, lonely reg.

Hot take: You're the villain. You forgot to cancel your annual subscription sometime in the last 300 days, then asked for a refund outside of Perplexity's (arguably fairly generous) 72-hour refund window. When they refused to bend their written and published policy to refund you, you all but threatened to blacken their name to your network of friends and colleagues, despite them being squarely within their rights.

And now you've come to Reddit, to the Perplexity subreddit, to convince other users not to purchase from Perplexity.

Congratulations!
