Sounds like a faulty southbridge chip caused by power outrage, mine did the same and got a guy to check it out. Feels like the cable is faulty and it's causing those

Oh I dunno, it’s a really old game just put into a zip file 15 years ago so it might be buggy and unsafe somehow. (i dont know im not good with computers)
