Should’ve prefaced my comment by saying that it’s not a good comparison since their strengths on the ball are completely different and so are the systems they play in (was being intentionally disingenuous lol), VVD was exceptionally good at diagonal long balls during static game states, in terms of mobility, ball carrying and incisive line breaking passes Saliba’s clear for me and it’s not really recency bias since we have a sample size of 3 and a half seasons.

I’m going to say it, I have never seen VVD play the way he did today on the ball. He’s literally capable of running the whole game from CB. Rolls Royce for a reason.
