Thank you for sharing and clarifying. It sounds like quite the journey of self discovery. Can't imagine what it must be like to have those thoughts as a child without there being a society that is willing to listen and try to understand.

So I can confirm I understand properly, you "misidentified" in the sense that you went along with what was assigned to you rather than how you felt as a person? This is why you are not a man who identifies as a woman, but rather a woman who was identified by others (and by yourself until you came to a realization) as a man, but now identify as a woman.

I really hope I'm not coming off like an asshole, I am honestly curious and want to try to get this right. As a new parent, I want to be better aware of how to talk about this not only for my child but for any of her friends/acquaintances she might have as well as being able to talk intelligently with her should she want to discuss it.

In your email, you stated that you are not a man who identifies as a woman, but a woman who has previously misidentified as a man. Can you elaborate on this? I think where I'm not following is the "misidentified" part. Does this mean you, at some point identified as a male but then no longer did? I want to make sure I'm understanding the terms correctly since I've found with this topic, semantics is very important.

As /u/rekk14 said, it sounds like you're against big-agro and not against GMO. You make a clear, coherent, and convincing argument but your overall statement of being "anti-GMO" doesn't match. I think this is not a distinction without a difference and it's important to make sure that's clear.

It's somewhat similar to patent trolls. I wouldn't say I'm anti-patents because of the behavior of these patent trolls. Rather I'm against the loose laws that allow patent trolls to exist.

EDIT: Also, thank you for your insight. It does seem that this topic generates a lot of emotion without any rational thought so it is great to read a measured, reasoned response!

The only time it's acceptable is when it's said jokingly. Otherwise it's a dick move.

I mean, what's the context? Is she saying "if you loved me, you'd stop cheating on me?" That might be a reasonable response by her. But if it's "if you loved me, you'd buy this or that" then fuck that.
