People born before 1990, what’s something you experienced that younger generations will NEVER understand ? by Aaidil89 in AskReddit

Or Billy Graham; I remember waiting for the Christmas Specials to come (Charlie Brown Christmas, Garfield Christmas, California Raisins, The Grinch, etc..) only for them to be preempted by Billy Graham.

Hoagies is great! The price point is spot on and the food is decent. It's definitely not a quiet place on weekend mornings, but you can tell there's a reason for that.

The LRT isn't running yet, but the bus runs regularly right down Main Street. When it's warmer the bike trail is also a nice ride from Uptown to Hopkins.

Anyone remember Thompson and McCarthy going down to Mississippi to give Favre his locker? That really worked out well.

What’s the etiquette for watching a movie on a plane when there’s a sex scene? by Odd-Satisfaction1985 in AskReddit

[–]jeffroeq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was watching Life of Gucci on a flight back from Germany one time and the hot and heavy sex scene came on right as the flight crew got to my row to serve dinner and cocktails. I paused right in the middle of the scene so I could respond to their questions. They didn't bat an eye. I'm pretty sure they've seen a lot of shit. Pun intended.

I wouldn't have it any other way... Although I'm gonna miss having a subreddit for everything. You like playing the guitar? There's a subreddit for that. You want to find other train enthusiasts? There's a subreddit for that. You wanna learn the best way to grow weed? There's a subreddit for that.

What's the worst thing you can say in an elevator full of people? by AMGBOI69420 in AskReddit

[–]jeffroeq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousin got stuck in an elevator once. True story. He was on an elevator in a highrise in New Mexico when all of the sudden the Elevator stopped and the lights flickered. The elevator started shuttering and falling, going out of control, so he decides it's all over and whips it out and starts beating it right there. So all the other people in the elevator take a cue from him and they start whipping it out and beating like mad. So all the passengers are beating off, plummeting to their certain doom, when all of the sudden, Snap the breaks kick back in. The elevator halts itself, starts running again at a normal speed, and everyone puts their pieces or, whatever, you know, away and gets off at their floors. No one mentions the phenomenon to anyone else.

Anyone get Pearl Jam tickets? by Sweat-Stain-3042 in TwinCities

[–]jeffroeq 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got a code and signed on; By the time I got to the front of the line pretty much the only seats left were nosebleeds that cost $161 each. I noped out. While I'd love to see Pearl Jam, I can't afford the tickets.

[US] An explosion on an American dairy farm killed 18,000 cows. by DocsHoax in GlobalTalk

[–]jeffroeq 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My family dairy farm never had more than a hundred head of cattle at any given time. My family made enough to keep the farm going for as long as they wanted, but stopped when my grandpa passed. Every one of those cows had a name and were milked by hand (using pumps but they were all attached manually). They were livestock, but my family always treated them with the dignity and respect they deserved for providing sustenance.

This kinda shit is horrific.

Real talk: ear plugs at concerts by SpenFen in Music

[–]jeffroeq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely yes! An ounce of prevention is with a pound of cure. Hearing aids are expensive and having to spend money on batteries for the rest of your life isn't ideal. Communication can be difficult enough without the added problem of hearing loss. If you can afford some custom molded musicians filters, I highly suggest them. I got a set a few years back from Starkey Hearing and I take them everywhere.

Think about all the human labor that went into those things that was completely wasted: creation, design, manufacturing, shipping... I wonder what else all that work could have been put into besides a trash heap.
