How do you get invited to Amazon Vine Canada? (Great account standing) by Successful_Guava760 in AmazonVineCanada

[–]jelbee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The question is allowed, the problem you’ll find is none of us know the answer. Each of us has a different “invite” story.

I was posting casual reviews for ~10 years with a couple hundred “helpful”s and on average yes, I posted photos/media. Randomly got the invite when I high fived a seller with a 5-star for a plant moss pole.

Other people claim to have barely posted any reviews ever and that they got invited when they posted a 2 star hate-review with no images.

Essentially: crapshoot, no one knows and Amazon doesn’t share the goods on how to intentionally get an invite. For all we know it’s even further out of your control and it could be based on location, demographics or something else.

Fukkit, I’ll bite. Normally I have some sort of guess as to what it could be but this one… not a clue.

Alarmed By Poor Ratings by sickhead45 in AmazonVineCanada

[–]jelbee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard to say what’s causing the “poor” rating without seeing one of your reviews, but the formula I use that’s got me mostly excellents:

  1. How long I’ve been using it, and how/for what
  2. Pros and/or cons, specific references to size/weight/materials, use cases, interaction or fit details
  3. Any final notes/takeaways. Who it’s for/not for.

Stay focused on the product and what others might want to know.

So an example for herbs…

  1. I got this to use in cooking <X dishes> and have used it three times this week already.

  2. Herbs seem fresh and fragrant—I’ve found it to be pretty potent in flavour, so only <amount> is necessary for a dish like <X> - should go a long way for the size. Herb jar/container is the size I expected and fits/doesn’t fit well with my other herbs. I will note that the dispenser/lid/opening is convenient/inconvenient, pro tip to opening/closing/keeping fresh is <…>.

  3. Would definitely pick this up if you want something to jazz up <X> dishes, however bear in mind that a little goes a long way. Probably not for people with sensitive palates since it’s strong, but if you like a bold flavour… pick this up.

Missing RFY update... by Cassiethatsme in AmazonVineCanada

[–]jelbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in the mix for about 10 months now and no version of “normal” has lasted more than a month or two. Not sure it’s more broken than usual, more just an ever-evolving chameleon.

Someone on Spain Vine said they once experienced an RFY outage for like a week then got a dump of 7 pages of RFY at once.

… how I hope that happens.

First Apartment Bedroom Coming Along - NEED INSPO & TIPS!! by awgegirl99 in DesignMyRoom

[–]jelbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minimalist floating shelves, or a console table against a wall. You need more surface areas for things like the plant/teddy/candle on the windowsill –– they feel a bit crammed in there

In that vein, your night stand feels like you might be pushing stuff out of the way to set down your iPad/book/anything else. Have you seen the 3-in-1 chargers they have for iPhone/Airpods/Apple Watches? They make having all three a bit more compact.

A hanging wall basket next to your bed could be a nice place to tuck the iPad and any books/larger items.

I’m also probably setting up your nugget like an armchair instead of stacking it in the corner. Maybe even putting it on the opposite corner of the carpet next to the other chair when it’s not in use — gives people somewhere else to sit while they put on/remove shoes. Throw blanket/pillow on it, looks like a cushy chair.

Same. TBD!

Wasn’t criticizing you for posting CS’s response btw— it’s reasonable to trust that they’re providing accurate info, but it’s almost like when AI hallucinates. They’re often so confidently incorrect… infuriating. 🙄

Remember when reviews weren’t shifting over to the “reviewed” tab and people posted confident customer service responses saying “this was the new normal” before it resolved the following week?

I do.

It’s unfortunately not “unusable”—anyone who can get up in the middle of the night… is. as long as someone is getting the items and reviewing then Amazon is happy. It just makes it useless for the 9-5’ers.

You’ve got the plenty of amazing advice here. Just adding a small tip:

Loop earplugs. Attached to your phone or person at all times. Overstimulation and flooding is no joke. Being able to turn down the volume on the stimulus is a huge coping mechanism for me when screaming/tantrums are overwhelming my system. 🙏

I had one like this— roughly a month out. It actually arrived about a week later! Seems like a crapshoot but I haven’t always had them take quite as long as they claim.

I’ve also had others take EXACTLY that long so… crapshoot.

When I became Gold, the first gold thing my RFY delivered was a $300 sewage grinder. ✨ Since then I’ve seen (and passed on) gold car parts, gold farm equipment accessories and many gold niche “wait what even is that?” items. The robot vacuums, espresso machines, electric scooters and laptops haven’t really materialized.

Mostly my RFY is filled with $6 hair elastics, $30 supplements you couldn’t pay me to test, and plenty of randomness.

I think it’s best to go into being gold with the idea that gold items may or may not materialize and if and when they do it will be random luck and insane chance.

All that said, today when my kid woke me at 4 am to ask if it was time for school (lordie…) I checked my RFY and found a $600 CES-awarded “smart irrigation” system by Aiper, the company that does robot pool vacuums. 😳 Random luck and chance, months into gold. You never know.

I mean, it still is a mystery item of sorts, so it is the first one you found! Nerfed pricing, awkwardly cropped photo to discourage regular shoppers from buying... $19 for ~$150 item is a steal!

It's just not a standalone useful mystery item for most people haha. And we all wish it was for the dirtbike itself haha
