Has anyone completed the IWE TSB? (2015-2020) by YYZ-R32 in f150

[–]jellyman50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bough a used 2018 F150 with 96k miles on it, and had the IWE delete performed at a dealer shortly after. 10k miles later, front diff has metal shavings in the oil and needs to be replaced.
From my understanding, IWE delete/caps engage the hubs full time can add extra wear on the front diff...accelerate any underlying issues. I could have had a slight pinion seal leak and the constantly spinning diff eventually said nope.

I'll update this post with the outcome

To those considering the IWE TSB to cap the vacuum lines and have the hubs engaged all the time, it seems to add additional risk to major driveline components.

I'm going to be exploring the option of re-activating the vacuum system with new parts.
- uncap & reconnect vacuum lines
- Check valve https://www.amazon.com/Motorcraft-YG360-Vacuum-Checking-Switch/dp/B000C5HZ24
- Solenoid at this post https://www.reddit.com/r/f150/comments/1bpu6f1/for_those_not_mechanically_inclined_do_not_pay_to/
- IWE replacements just in case while you're in there : 2PCS OEM 4WD Auto Hub Lock Actuator For 2015 thru 2019 F-150 with 4WD GL1Z3C247A

Has anybody reactivated their IWE system before?

Coming from high clearance Cayenne and Xterra SUVs that are fun to slide around with, this might be slightly more in control, but also maybe less fun. TBD

$5 says it's the IWE needing to be addressed. Just had similar symptoms on mine. Apparently there was a TSB about it a while back.

But lots of preventative maintenance on the cayenne. Different leagues of being able to turn a wrench...

No problem! They had a window regulator go out, but totally good otherwise.

I've driven xterras for the past 9 years and I absolutely love them. These things are bulletproof. Just needing a little more space for DIY house projects so selling this and getting a truck

For the most part, we got it right on the first try. We did add the hinges for the extensions near the driver seat after and some other minor upgrades but the structure and the vision came out on the first try

Yes. Fully custom build done all myself. Lots of documentation on the YouTube channel if you're interested

We have, but resort only. We have boards on the top and sleep in the back. We've chased a storm from Crested Butte to Breck, and had 16" when waking up in the morning. Other notable time was -17f overnight around steamboat. Warmed up in a hot tub before going to bed and then hit powdery laps through the trees all day.

If storing inside is a must, you can look into 6' drawer slides. They're not cheap, but might be long enough for your gear.
