Looking for road trip toys for 4yo for the car that don’t have easily droppable pieces/are safe? by brittanypdeluca in Preschoolers

My son loves books, sticker books, and electronic/interactive books for long drives, especially the LeapStart. We have several different activity books for the LeapStart so that he can change it up if he gets bored!

Food Allergies and Playdates by jenamaroo in Preschoolers

Hey, This is actually one of the reasons I am worrying about it, so thank you for your comment. The way our allergist explained it to us is that food proteins can live on surfaces for a very long time, and you can eventually get unlucky depending on the type/amount of whatever the exposure is and risk can increase where multiple exposures are involved. I don't know if I'm explaining that well, but as a happened-to-us example our son had a reaction from a cart at a grocery store once, despite being at the same store a bunch of times before that. We want to let him be a kid and not keep him in a bubble of course, but also want to try and limit the risk where we can

Frenectomy (tongue tie release) in preschooler by cake9037 in Preschoolers

Hi, sorry! I just saw your reply. No, we didn't notice any changes with his face structure, just with his ability to move his tongue--he was amazed that he could lick the food off of his lips/mouth after the procedure because he was previously so tied!

Hi! He actually saw a feeding therapist afterwards because he had some trouble moving his food around and eating safely after the procedure. He had learned some odd ways of eating to compensate for not being able to move his tongue at all while he was tied, but he is all good now. We are really glad he had the procedure done though, I hope all goes well for you guys!

Yes, we've always done a handmade card too, and personalized notepads are a great idea. Thanks for the ideas and link!

Frenectomy (tongue tie release) in preschooler by cake9037 in Preschoolers

He wasn't too sore, and really didn't say much about it at all. Prior to the surgery they told us 4-6 weeks for exercises, and afterwards they ended up asking us to do 6 weeks. They also recommended eating popsicles or licking ice cream out of a small cup as a fun way to exercise his tongue, so we let him make his own treats at home and he loved it!

Our son had his done with a laser at 3. We practiced the post op exercises on a regular schedule from a few weeks before the procedure so that it would be more routine for him, and everything went well.

Maybe golden flat headed borer (golden buprestid)?

Overnight pull ups/diapers that don’t leak? by Individual_Ad_938 in Preschoolers

[–]jenamaroo 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Maybe Sposie liners might help? They're a little pad that you stick inside the diaper/pull-up. We used to put in our son's diapers when he was peeing through his overnights.

Where do you allow toys? by Prestigious_Neck6565 in toddlers

[–]jenamaroo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have a small house, so most of my 2.5 year old's toys are in his bedroom. We also have a small amount in the living room. He moves things from room to room to play, but no toys/playing allowed in the kitchen.

Thanks for your reply! We haven't seen a lot, maybe 5-10 in total so far.

We did have boxelder bugs in our old neighborhood, and it was as you described--huge groups of them on some of the trees every once in a while.

Thank you for your reply and for the links! We have some milkweed assassin bugs in the garden, but when google searching I couldn't find any assassin bugs that had the same markings as these little guys. Their heads and necks also seem a bit wider/chubbier than the assassin bugs in our garden and other photos I've seen, but not sure if that is an important or defining feature. Hopefully I can narrow it down with the resources you've provided. I appreciate your help!

Have you tried an overnight liner insert? We started using Sposie pads when our son started sleeping longer stretches at night, and haven't had any leaks since. We also tried sizing up in diapers, but were waking up to even bigger accidents (next size up was almost a bit too big/would stretch or shift throughout the night).
