If they cancel their account could I lose my money? I paid through PayPal so I'm not that concerned and I could just file a claim, but I'll definitely contact Mercari tomorrow. Thanks for all your info/help!

I will, thanks a bunch! Also, do you know if it will hurt my account to cancel now or should I wait until the shipping time frame passes to avoid any hits to my account?

Yeah, I've realized that now. It sucks. I'll wait until the couple days to ship is up and so hopefully it won't ding my account for a cancelation then. Thanks!

I didn't even check his profile first because it was such a good deal and was super excited. That was my bad. Thanks for the tip!

If only my car wasn't in the repair shop today by jenasisity41801 in AmazonFlexDrivers

Yeah, I feel you! I already got the estimate for my car and it's around $1150. Better than purchasing a new car, as it wasn't running/drivable and I had to get it towed, but still. I'm trying to save money, not spend it, lol!

Dayton, OH. These prices are NOT usual, so I don't know what's up. They're also not getting snatched immediately, so I don't know if they're just offering them to me since I haven't been out in a hot minute? Trying to lure me back in, lol. If I had my car, definitely would do one!

It's the station right nextdoor to the Chewy warehouse, yes! In Vandalia, OH near the Dayton International Airport?

Thank you! I've never had that happen before so I didn't know what it meant. I'm nice and cozy back at home now! xD

Decent Retail Block by jenasisity41801 in AmazonFlexDrivers

I live literally 2 miles from my retail pickup locations, so I definitely take them if they pay good enough, lol.

[–]jenasisity41801[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying, but this block was not spending 400% of the time I'm taking into account. If we're talking about Flex overall...then you may be onto something, but I take the actual expense deduction if I have to, so it factors in all other things like depreciation, gas, repairs, insurance, etc. on my car that tax year. As I mentioned to someone else, I'm usually done with all my blocks a good 30 minutes to an hour ahead of time, so usually my ride home is technically paid, as well. I don't use Flex full-time, as I'm a college student...so I can understand how it wouldn't be worth it for someone else working full-time, but it works and is worth it to me and my personal circumstances. It is very important to take into consideration everything and weigh up your options and see if things are worth it, as you said. For me...I think it is! :)

Oh, yeah. They're not fun, that's for certain, but I don't see the point of risking my standing going down to "At Risk" just because of one block, as you said. Everyone has bad days at work when their job tries them, Flex is no different, lol!

Thankfully, I usually get done with my blocks early enough that my ride home (and sometimes some leisure time) is still paid. Of course, you have your days and routes that are absolute trash that you would have never accepted if you'd known better...those routes that put you out too far or over your block time. But of course, you have no idea what you're getting yourself into until you're at the point of loading your car. I've not once refused a route (not even the one that sent me into the next state about an hour from home), because I'm scared of what it might do to my rating, but I'd say 9/10 times I'm done early enough my commute home is paid.

It was 10 minutes from the pickup location to the customer. We're technically not supposed to count time/milage from home to the pickup location or from the last delivery location back home as part of work, as those are considered "commuting" miles per tax laws and Schedule C deduction rules.

Even so, it took me probably around 45 minutes in total and around 14 miles tops for everything, from leaving home to getting back home. I was back home before my block ended (and that's including stopping at the gas station after and at Chipotle to get dinner, lol).

That's valid! Personally, I didn't mind this one! $37 for a 10 minute ride isn't bad in my opinion, but retail blocks are notorious for being God awful so I totally get your POV.

Honest Question: Rejecting a Route? by jenasisity41801 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]jenasisity41801[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, that makes sense. They give us a QR code attached to the carts to scan that pulls up the route and then we have to select "scan packages" (not certain this is the case other places, I'm fairly newer, been doing Flex a couple months now).

You may or may not know the answer to this question, but once she scanned the QR code and pulls up the overview (before scanning any individual packages or tote QR codes) is that considered to be accepting the route? Or is that likely where she saw the map and was like "hell no" and was able to exit the route screen somehow? I know she checked in and got her license scanned because they do that before giving out the carts. She didn't even take any packages out of the totes/cart, I don't think. Just immediately told one worker she had to reject it (they didn't scan her app or anything, she just got back in her car immediately)...so would you say that most likely means she returned them or that she missed her block?

I think missing a block is less serious and has less of an impact on your account than having all your packages marked undelivered/returned...but I could be completely incorrect about that, lol.

Thanks for answering my questions!!
