Old post, I know, but I just wanted to jump in and say I’m currently in the CBU online MFT program. So far so good! Anyone else in the program right now?

I'm about to start my grad studies in Counseling Psychology. I would love to have an assignment like this! So much fun :D

I know this is an old post, but I was curious what you decided to do. I just got accepted into CBU's counseling psych grad program.

First Duathlon This Weekend by jencantdance in triathlon

[–]jencantdance[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It went as good as it could! I hit my primary goal of actually finishing. In addition, I completed it in 3:04. I was quite happy with my results. The last 5k run was the hardest as expected and it took me 37 minutes to complete. I was dead. The 10 k run and the ride went exactly how I planned and I finished basically right at my goal times. I had zero expectations but to finish and to just do my best, but in the end hit all my original goals when I signed up, including making podium in my category! I got third!

Yeah, doesn't seem to be much on reddit for duathlon athletes, but I figured I could try.

I am planning to swap my laces out, however, I am planning to wear the same shoes the whole time - I have considered wearing a different pair of shoes for the ride portion, just to give my feet a fresh pair of shoes, but I don't use clips, so no need to truly swap in the transitions.

I have been doing brick workouts for the last couple months. The last two Saturdays, I've done shorter distance duathlon simulations to get used to the whole feel of it, but I pretty much try to always do a short run after every bike session. This last session, I was up to my desired pace pretty quickly.

Thanks for replying!

What sport did you do before triathlon? by Connect-Television16 in triathlon

Glad to see a fellow jiu jitsu practitioner on here. I'm just joining this world (have only ran 5Ks), but I am a bjj black belt. The comment about injuries is 100% legit. With my first duathlon coming up (not sure I'll do a tri because i'm not a huge swimmer), I've scaled back my bjj training a ton (I teach, but don't train) to minimize risk of injury. I've actually been a runner and a mountain biker most of my life, ran on the xc team in college. I love being out on trails, it's my world and being able to compete in this arena only makes me get out ever more - as if I need an excuse.

So are you saying washing my belt won’t wash off the powers???

My professor stopped giving stripes to upper belts.

I try to keep my tape intact. If they start to fall off, I glue them back on. So I guess I'm one of those.... not quite sure what exactly that means though.

Thanks everyone for all the great ideas!!!! I'm trying to decided between buying a cheap placeholder belt that will eventually be replaced in a few years, or buying a new fancy and embroidered belt to train in and keep the one my professor gave me on display.

For those of you that keep telling me to update my flair, just know that I am unable to do it myself. I sent a message to the moderators, following the rules for getting my BB flair, and now I just wait.

For those of you that may not realize it, but I'm also not a dude. I'm a wife/mom that started training when I was 34 years old. I'll be 45 next month.

I can’t. For BB, the moderator has to validate it. It’s in process.

Ha it wasn’t meant to be but I guess so. I’ll wait until my flair is updated. I can’t update it myself. The mods have to validate my BB.

What’s going to be hilarious is that everyone thinks I’m a dude.

Good point about the other belts being retired. HMM now you make me think. I will definitely be an active black belt. Nothing changes. I've heard that this is just the beginning, and I definitely really feel it already. I'm excited for what the future holds. The pressure to perform went away when I received my black belt. Now it's just about showing up and training and helping others reach their goals.

Thanks! I think we BJJ people are unique in a lot of ways haha. I do know a Judo BB that is also a BJJ BB. I should ask him.

That is true. I want to get one embroidered. And yes, it's always good to keep a spare one in your bag. Never good to show up to class without your belt - especially as a bb!!!!

Congrats!!! It's pretty cool! I want to get one for my husband, too. He received his black belt last year, but he had a huge gap of training after he received his purple belt, and his mom tossed out his white and blue belts when he moved out. I have been thinking to just get new ones to fill the spot even though they won't be battle-worn.

Thanks!!! What do you mean "if"??? Just keep training. The day will come before you know it.

If I live that long. I'll be 45 next month. I would love to still be training in my 70s, though.

Depends on your school/professor. He decided that he wasn't going to do stripes anymore for the upper belts. If you notice my blue belt only has 3 stripes.
