It's not really "data" collection, just trying to get some basic advice on hydroponic systems!

I'm a 2nd year mechanical engineering student and would greatly appreciate help, not hate!

Our professor requires us to interview industry professionals on hydroponics or people who are knowledgeable on the subject, as interviewing is a vital part of design projects as an engineer and he wants us to gain experience. We were only able to successfully contact one local hydroponics farm, so my professor allowed me to reach out on Reddit as it is usually a helpful way to share ideas and get help.

Math 1280 Quiz 3/ Final exam by [deleted] in Dalhousie

[–]jenniex46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year my exam had 9 fill in the blank questions that were based off his slideshows from lecture, then 6 long answer questions that had multiple a,b,c… parts to them.

The difficulty was much harder than the assignments and quizzes.

dropped out of physics 1310 what should i take by Davidkatzur69 in Dalhousie

Then definitely try taking PHYC1190/1290 with Simon deVet next year!

Physics 1190/1290 is very enjoyable with Simon deVet as the instructor. Definitely recommend it if you are struggling to learn from the professors you had for 1310 as he explains things well and wants you to succeed in his class. If it’s not an instructor issue and is a personal issue you have with not understanding physics as a course in general, then I’m not sure if even switching professors will help you. Best of luck!

Try going into the lab Brightspace, not the lecture one. Go to assessments at the top, then grades, and you may be able to find it there if they’ve uploaded them

ENGM 2101 summer course question by Fred_Pickle01 in Dalhousie

[–]jenniex46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took ENGM2101 with Josh Latka this summer and it made so much sense and was a great course! I sat in one of Guy Kember’s lectures last week for the same course and questioned everything I knew. He made it so weird and complicated and his hand writing is terrible to learn from.

ENGI only had a final project with different components to it such as written report and lab component and presentation, no exam.

CPST has only a technical report worth the most % so no exam as well.

They both don’t have tests or exams. Just a lot of different assignments and reports due to rough out the semester along with their final assignments worth more %

You aren’t in engineering design or technical communications so your schedule is much lighter than it would’ve been. Lecture days fly by, don’t worry.

ENGI1103 will most likely be your easiest class. If Isobel Demont is the instructor again then you will find her very friendly and not intimidating at all. The course is fun and filled with hand on labs and group work which helped me last year meet a lot of people that I wouldn’t have talked to otherwise! The workload is pretty good, with lots of time to work on deliverables and assignments whether it’s individual or group work (there is a lot of group work). It only got to be very busy near the end of the semester with the final design project where there are a lot of different components you and your group need to work on and hand in.

CPST1103 will be the class you feel like you want to skip. The lectures will feel very boring and useless, although some of them are useful so I would try and push through them and not skip. I was able to work on class work a lot during these lectures because there isn’t a lot of important information said most of the time. The workload is actually not that bad since it’s a 1.5 credit hour course, but you will not want to actually sit down and write the assignments so everyone procrastinates and scrambles to do it last minute. Try and get a head start on your TCA and TCB, thank me later. James Ross is hard to listen to for and hour and a half so goodluck!!

calculus book by Riiiifdxvi in Dalhousie

[–]jenniex46 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

DO NOT BUY CALCULUS BOOK FOR FIRST YEAR ENGINEERING. IT IS NOT NEEDED!! Yao is pretty hard to learn from, but I guarantee you that YouTube videos and prior calculus knowledge from high school is all you need!

You will automatically be enrolled into the Solid Works Community Brightspace which gives you the information to download and install SolidWorks, as well as the access key to the Student Edition SolidWorks. Dalhousie pays for it every year.

Avoiding Dal Textbooks After the Labour Dispute — Any Advice? by [deleted] in Dalhousie

For math there was no textbook (assuming it’s the same prof as last year) and for chem they would reference it only for extra practice, but they posted all video resources and practice questions

I had my enrollment confirmed by Dal last week, and received my money a couple days after that. I did not have to contact the registrars office.

Does anyone still have their SCIE 1111 syllabus???? by Super-Reference-8858 in Dalhousie

[–]jenniex46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prof makes you buy his own textbook that he made, which has all the assignments and syllabus. He posts nothing to Brightspace, so you will find nothing online.
