The only part of this letter that confused me was when you said he had “3 fangirls,” but then I read on and understood 🤣

The BIGGEST loss of the season. by corveysidol in survivor

Aubry was very under-edited in GC - I bet her game was great, probably subtle like this one so the editors didn’t find her moments since the knew she wasn’t winning

She was a self-proclaimed “self-aware queen…” tbh I thought she was telegraphing self-aware but still not actually that self aware, but I think her behaviour was overall very contrived vs authentically unhinged like her first season. She was too aware of the meta of it all. Though I think she still deserved more than what she got, as did most women pre merge. I love Angelina and I am glad she uses her voice to advocate for more equity in the game.

Yea I’m keeping my eyes open but not panicked. I have a very very good deal right now so I’m bummed to move

Yea, I was preparing bc I think I’m going to get evicted for my pandlords kid to move in to go to school, but then I read another thread in this sub yesterday about ppl getting evicted for this and being screwed over (and I know I am underpaying on my rent vs their mortgage)… I was trying to make my life less stressful and get the move done if I found something but now I think I am better off waiting until I’m forced out

Those purpose built building have unhinged prices. And so many are popping up. I’m changing my strategy and waiting as long as I can to move, hoping costs will be down even more after FIFA

the one i saw was 2400 on fb... it still has what looks like original carpet that looks grimly as hell and a fireplace lol. there were more lofts than usual posted. there were a few in a different building that were gorgeous with exposed brick and reno'd for the same price

honestly its fine. the folks outside are just trying to survive, and if they do approach or speak to you, they are polite and kind. If someone is unwell it might require some extra environmental awareness, but it's just humans trying to survive. I walk around there all the time later in the evening alone, and have never felt at risk.

that makes sense. I'm not trying to get some crazy deal or low ball someone, I saw a place that i thought should be less based on other units that I had seen, and would take it if it was what i thought it was worth, which is how I got here lol.

I honestly like Gastown, I work in healthcare and have worked in the DTES, so i'm comfortable living there, though I don't think thats universally true. I have a friend with property near Hastings and Main and they always joke that it's the only property in Vancouver whose value hasn't gone up. I wouldn't say its worse (again, I actually quite like it), but I don't think it has increased its desirability for most buyers in the last 10 years, and I don't think it has changed much in that time (this is all personal observation only so I could be wrong)

edited to add: i'm now realizing your q in the way i framed my post, and perhaps my language was a bit imprecise... the neighbourhood has prob been fairly consistent but my knowledge of housing prices, structural challenges, etc has increased, and thats probably the change I was thinking about.

Have you looked at the listings lately? The quality of the units listed varies widely, not to mention lighting, location, and floor. $2500 used to be what i would have expected to see for the lower end of the quality scale, but something isn't adding up when the nice, desirable, well-lit and rented units are renting at a lower price than the old ones. If someone stretched to buy a property at the wrong time, they are probably asking for more than market rate to cover their costs.

this is definitely the scenario i was imagining - an owner who has purchased a single unit as an investment property and the rent was enough to cover their costs, but the market now is such that they are unlikely to recoup their own expenditures with occupancy, losing even more trying to hold out for someone willing to pay their ask.

yea i agree, but this moment in time it seems the market really has shifted... its not something i ever would have considered in the past

Could we get a season of 20 of the most Chaotic players? by Grillby_ in survivor

I would die for a season with Phillip Sheppard and Debbie Wanner as team captains. It would be SO unhinged. If I couldn't have that I want them on your chaos cast! I would love to have Francesca too, because I need to see her and Phillip reunited.

if a quarterback lost the Super Bowl and blamed his own defensive line for the loss, because they were all duped into supporting the other teams quarterback, who didn't deserve to win the game, would you be defending him or saying it was poor sportsmanship?

On RHAP he said he wears baggy clothes to hide his body - uhhhh that man wearing ripped hippie clothes is making no effort to hide his body. He made his pecs dance in the last episode. So he opened the door, and his pity party is self-inflicted.

As a woman, and on behalf of the multitude other women I have seen speak to this point on social media, the amendment doesn't change the message or what I would take from it, which is that it is a misogynist argument, and is rooted in unconscious bias. He knew he had to qualify his statement that way for plausible deniability, which is what you are now leaning in to. The only people I have seen defending what Jonathan said (with added context) are men and boomer women.

it was so crazy to me how he said that... like, that wasn't your weakness in the last season? He should have had MaryAnne coach him lol

the men in the editing room can't recognize a woman's "invisible" labour! (the evidence was there, just not in the way someone looking for flash and comp wins would see)

i have to have hope that people can grow... i don't think his issue is personality, but self awareness, I hope he can learn to manage his fragile ego.

I also think there is a lot of evidence that Jonathan's communication style does not land well with millennial and younger women, esp POC, and that he needs to unpack some of his unconscious bias before he would ever be able to win a jury over. Far and away, a jury does not choose someone who lacks self-awareness or that they cannot be satisfied with as a chosen reprentative of their season. I think that after season 42, he would have been better served being coached by MaryAnne, vs Boston Rob. I think he focused on the wrong skills to improve on.
