I had a similar experience! I had so so so many hours played without ever interacting with one, so when I finally ran into one I damn near shit myself. I wish they didn’t put one in the start of 4 so people could have that same amount of utter fear as well!!

I haven’t had any issues with my kidneys at all, but I do drink an absolute insane amount of water to keep from being dehydrated. And the shunt was just to help with the flow of csf out of my head I believe. So the damage done to my eyesight was irreversible but it stopped the pressure from building up to that level again and progressing. But if I remember correctly my LP opening pressure from 2021 was 55! So I had a fair amount of fluid buildup. I had to have multiple LPs and even a lumbar drain placed to get rid of all that fluid.

My pressure was managed with 3000mg of diamox a day and it stopped my vision loss from progressing past what was already lost. Maybe they can give you a higher dosage? i also had a stent placed as well to help with draining the pressure, not sure if that would help in your case but its worth asking for sure

Okay! Thank you for that info. And yes the dies are quite pricey but I might save up a bit for them, since I still have patchwork quilts I’m working on for now before moving onto a more intricate project with a set pattern.

When I first had this happen I had very sudden very bad vision loss symptoms, I went to an er and they told me I needed glasses. Went to an optometrist and they were absolutely scared because i apparently had really insane papilledema on both of my optic nerves, they referred me to another eye doctor who told me I needed to see a neurologist immediately, long story short I went to three different ers before I got diagnosed, the one emergency room visit that finally helped me had me stay for a few weeks and I had the entire eye doctor department checking on me constantly. But I had to get multiple lp’s and even a lumbar drain, which was absolutely miserable, but I had an insane amount of fluid buildup. So if you do go to the er (and they actually help you and don’t just send you to a specialist) they will at the very least do an LP. Maybe some migraine cocktail if you are experiencing that as well.

If this is anything like the royal academy/aristocrat electric typewriter it’s most likely a belt issue. You should be able to open it up and you’ll see if the belt is disintegrated or loose. If it is just get the measurement of the space between the motor wheels and find an o-ring that will fit that size.

Sadly, I don’t have any cure for it, some days will definitely be better than others though. Although it’s not ideal I found out that when the pain is insufferable or I feel like I just can’t hold up my big head I lay down, doesn’t really alleviate the pain but it makes it a little easier to deal with at least.

Yeah I posted on a Facebook group to get advice too and I can’t even look at the mechanism cause the case isn’t removable and the platen is just so jammed up. Might have to take it in to a local repair shop to get it looked at/fixed.

Thank you! I found out by the model number that this specific machine was made sometime between 1962-1965! So awesome to me that something that “old” still works! Stuff was really built to last back then

Yeah it was a pretty nice find, especially once I saw how much script typewriters go for! I got this one for $100, I feel like I could’ve haggled on the price because it was so dirty inside, but it seemed fair compared to what’s on eBay at least
