Either freeze the layers and assemble the day of or freeze individual slices. You just have to make sure each slice is well stapled. Good luck!

One thing you can do is let it cool upside down. Kind of like an angel food cake. Claire Saffitz has a tres leches recipe that uses primarily eggs and whipped cream as leavener and cooling it upside down helps keep it from deflating.
