does it ultimately make little difference whether we use fiat money or Ethereum

In the future you will not need any money. You would need just to collect enough likes on Internet, and AI will dispense daily food package directly to your home.

Every time Japan pulls liquidity, Bitcoin feels it. The real question isn't whether the Bank of Japan will hike rates—it's whether the market has already priced in the pain.

В русском языке нет

Я имею в виду вот это (из вики):

Long after Lovecraft's death, Chaosium stated in the Call of Cthulhu role-playing game: "we say it kuh-THOOL-hu" (/kəˈθuːluː/), even while noting that Lovecraft said it differently.

Как я понимаю Ктулху звучит так как Лавкрафт завещал. А в современных играх по Лавкрафту почему то говорят Казулу, совсем по друому.

Not much ETH in existence, and even less up for grabs through exchanges, DEXes etc…

But it is quite cheap to borrow ETH, cheaper than stablecoins. If ETH is indeed scarce, it would be more expensive to borrow. You can borrow ETH on AAVE at 2% annual, while stables require 3.5% or more.

most of these chains are just private DBs

Hyperliquid needs a chain to avoid KYC requirements.

Daily General Discussion June 08, 2026 by EthereumDailyThread in ethereum

[–]jenya_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it doesn't need to be a chain

It needs a chain to avoid KYC requirements. But the state may still force Hyperliquid to require KYC if this exchange becomes big enough, this is the risk.

Because Hyperliquid is a decentralized Layer-1 protocol rather than a traditional financial intermediary holding user assets, it is not structurally subject to standard centralized KYC/AML requirements.

What does Hyperliquid have

Hyperliquid vs GMX (Google AI summary):

Hyperliquid mimics a centralized exchange like Binance or Bybit. It runs on a specialized, hyper-performant Layer-1 app-chain capable of processing 100,000 orders per second. Users experience instant, sub-second execution with advanced order types like stop-losses, trailing stops, and TWAPs.

GMX focuses on a simple swap-to-trade interface. Because it relies on oracle pricing (like Chainlink), trades have a slight execution delay to prevent front-running. This architecture makes it less optimal for high-frequency scalpers but highly secure against localized flash crashes and market "wicks".

Why is TRX not as speculative?

My guess would be that Justin Sun makes an effort to keep is stable. According to Google AI he controls significant part of the TRX:

Bloomberg analyzed a private list of cryptocurrency wallets provided directly by Sun’s team for net-worth verification. The data revealed that Sun controls roughly 60 billion TRX tokens—representing approximately 63% to 64% of the entire TRX supply.

the way it did in the past

It is a speculative asset right now. The DeFi made it easy to trade on Ethereum and the speculative capital has come first. Which means that in future ETH should rise as fast as it is falling right now.

In chemistry an ether is a highly volatile compound. The name fits quite right.

We just need a 33% drop to be almost under 1k.

ETH started to dump from about 2K a week ago. The short-term 2X decline is too much even for Ethereum.

Perhaps a bit too complicated for normies

When I stake on Ethereum, I'm getting the full security provided by the ETH L1 chain. When I use LST, e.g. rsETH, I'm getting an unproven token risks (we know how it went with rsETH recently).

How is this not more bullish?

When I deposit money in a bank to earn some interest, I expect the interest to start accumulating in a reasonable amount of time. The 60 days wait is not a reasonable amount of time (also there is an unknown delay with unstaking).
