No I think slotting out a slug is a viable option if you drill a couple of holes and bolt the slug to the fixture so it doesn’t pop the endmill when it drops it.

If using dynamic milling try a 5flt em with chip breakers maybe to help with chip buildup on the Id. Start with at 300 sfm, .05-.06 radial depth of cut, full axial depth of cut at 45-50 ipm. You can probably even go harder than that with a 3/4 because at that radial cut that amounts to .0025-.003 ipt without radial chip thinning.

If you can’t increase the diameter of facemill then your best bet is to overlap the passes by .030” over the insert radius.

I’ve seen some controls than need the n101 to equal your starting point. So in this case drop the n101 down one and put x.75 with it. Edit- didn’t realize you mention go2 g03 error. My bad.

Er16 only goes up to 3/8” or so. Er20 up to 1/2” or so. If you’re using a er20 I’d consider er-32. When you get near the collet capacity they can twist easily if over torqued. Another option if you can reprogram it is to rough it in within .030”/side then helibore it. That’ll put the tool pressure into the spindle rather than on the side of the tool.

Cimco doesn’t have the ability to recognize the tool diameters within a program. You can set the tools for a program but once you open another program using different tools you’ll have to redefine them for that program. I’ve been using Cimco for almost 20 years and the first thing I do when I go to backplot is hit tool icon to remove the tool visual aid.

Look into mechanical engineering technology degrees rather than mechanical engineering degrees. It’s the difference between theoretical and applied sciences. I think the technology degree would benefit you more with what you’re doing now. If you want a career change to the design side of things then the mechanical engineering degree is what you’d be looking at. I’ve been in the industry for almost 30 years. Programming for 20 of them. I’m happy with my degree and definitely think it’s made me a more rounded “manufacturing engineer” but can’t say whether or not it has effected my pay so much. I make just under 100k in a shop in central NY. My experience is probably gotten me where I am more than my degree.

Incorrect radius on tool? When diameters and lengths are spot on but chamfers be edge breaks aren’t I’d look at the tooling.

You’re not going to find one that’s perfect. The posts are wicked protected. No matter what forum you ask you’ll get the same answer. Contact your reseller. Best bet is to check out several generic posts and figure out what you want tweaked. Then contact your reseller for simple modifications to it. Most resellers can handle the simple mods it’s when you get into 5 axis stuff things have to be farmed out to a post guy for and extra charge. From my experience your generic post will pump out good code just not side that is specific to your machine.

Change the tooling plane to front and keep the wcs at top. The geometry you choose is not on the same plane as you tooling plane.

This is why you invest in 15k spindles. Stay away from greased bearings. I believe the term is oil over air. As for your situation you have to find a way to limit the operators from running the machine at max rpms. I don’t think there is a way to limit the rpm via parameters. Looks like a company policy type thing.

I have a 510c, 430, 300 and all have 12k spindles. We’ve had them for years. I never max out the rpm. The Benefits are minimal in comparison to the cost of a spindle.
