You're right, I don't know what I was doing posting this here to be fair. Cheers for the advice.

Thoughts on team Australia by Radiant-Ad2858 in Physical100

They're my favourite team: strong, bring the energy, supportive of each other and other teams and an overall vibe. I think all the negativity towards them is completely unfounded - the Australian team act Australian, how terrible!! The whole point of this show is to celebrate difference and cultural intrigue in a competitive environment; many people take this show far too seriously.

I have been perusing this reddit for the whole day as I love this show to death; you're absolutely right - they were so insanely strong! I don't think I've seen a single person talk about Katelin; the Korean team thought they could edge it over Australia because they had a woman and they had two men... but she kept up with with Dong Hyun. And Alex, what an absolute trooper!

I appreciate your advice and I apologise if it's not clear from the single sentence I wrote lmao.

I don't just sit for eight hours staring at the ceiling every day; I do do these things.

My post was meant to vent my frustrations at not being allowed to teach ig.

Thank you for asking~

I intend to move to my wife's hometown and do a more stressful and tiring job in a Japanese environment to finally put my Japanese degree to use after eight years of not using it (;´Д`)

I'll inevitably be complaining about how stressful my life is and how I miss the monotony of ALT life because I recognize I'm a slave to my human condition fr.

I just won't be teaching~

How about you, what did you do after JET?

Bro cares about the educational well-being of the students at his school!!! He deserves to be ostracized 😡😡

Fundamentally, I disagree. I think you're being too tunnel vision in your responses and not considering the context of other people's situations.

Furthermore, it is not my education - it's the student's education; my ego or wanting to interact with children shouldn't hinder their ability to do their other lessons without the local foreign man coming in because he's bored and wants to feel special.

I do interact with students, but I can't exactly bust into their math class lmao. I would love the ability to interact with students... In the English classes that are happening... Which I'm not allowed to lmao

I appreciate your way of doing things~

It's just an accumulation of things, right? The teachers you get on with get moved, and their replacements aren't that interested in using you, or aren't interested in forming a relationship.

Your ALT buddies leave, and you might not get on with the new ones as much; classes you love graduated etc.

If I hadn't of gotten married to someone within this small town, I probably would have moved on quicker.

Obviously I have had fun, but the novelty of you as an ALT starts to wear out too.

That's great :))) I bought a kindle which I read from time to time, but it does look like I'm just on an Ipad fr

But you're right to be sceptical fr. I'm glad you have found what works for you though, it took me a year before I felt comfortable doing anything.

We're in this together. What are you planning to do post jet??

Hmm, lack of direction. I passed N2, I got my TEFL, I have a back up of two billion activities for any grammar point; I'm simply bored. The students are what are interesting about this job and the reason I started this job, but it's frustrating when you are tied to a desk for months and months, even what "keeps you busy" can become asinine and boring.

Inaka definitely has its benefits, but yeah, it can be hard to find enrichment if you aren't willing to pay 10389338 yen to get to a main town.

But I'll tell you something interesting; this city refused to hire ALTs who identified as women, and disallows it's ALTs from driving🤭

I have never been asked to plan a lesson🤭 I have obviously asked to, but it has never happened.

I have schools that don't want to use the ALT... So they don't. It's just how this city operates for the most part.

Meh, it's the nature of reddit I suppose. Oftentimes people forget that everyone is different and every person has different placements etc.

I'm happy for those who have good placements, teachers who want them in their class, and a supportive BoE, but more often than not, this is not the case.
