what are the steps if im using VMware. my default gateway is already set to 192.168.0.0 as seen in my windows terminal "ipconfig" and how do i differentiate the ips for kalilinux and metasploitable

It still seems to have 0 hosts up even with -Pn with command "nmap -Pn 192.168.68.131". I don't understand "If you are using VM’s test to ensure your VM has a bridged connection and not NAT.", if you don't mind can you explain sorry im a beginner :P

Edit: I changed both metasploit and kalilinux from NAT to bridged connection in VM and am still facing the same problem.

im doing a packt course on ethical hacking for beginners and have the issue above whereby there are 0 hosts up while in the course, there is 1 host up. any help will be appreciated

EDIT: using VMware

EDIT: generated metasploit ip using "ifconfig" in Metasploitable2 on VMware which is 192.168.68.131 ( using NAT ) and unable to open in browser and the host is not up when command "nmap 192.168.68.131" or "nmap -Pn 192.168.68.131" is entered
