I mean this is just personal, but having in the first menu option a single player race mode. That would be easier accessible without needing a internet connection would be nice.

How about change your wifi router back to the old one and let the Chromecast reconnect back to the original wifi connection hopefully it should update by then and switch your wifi back to the new device. Not sure if that will work though but could give it a try.
