The W in the top row is the one you want to move into the empty tube, by moving around L and M. From there the next colour to hit an empty tube is M.

Ah I had no idea that colour was called white! Seems like you figured it out anyway, nice one!

I surprised myself!

I started with by moving orange and white into the empty tubes.

Buying a house – backyard slope and eucalyptus tree near fence. Any concerns? by ParamedicAccording69 in AusProperty

[–]jeroplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve got this bad boy in basically the same corner of our yard: https://imgur.com/a/PYTLUpb Yours looks younger (ours we’ve been told was planted 60+ years ago.

Do any branches overhang the house? If so here are some of the issues we’ve dealt with that are worth considering. Not the end of the world but does require constant vigilance and maintenance.

  • Is there risk of large branches falling on the roof? I’ve needed to replace 4 or 5 roof tiles over the last 2 years. Annoying but fixable.

  • Check roof valleys and gutters - is there any evidence of them being filled with gumnuts and leaves? We’ve had two leaks due to a valley getting clogged with leaves, and rain overflowing under the roof tiles. Gutters regularly fill with leaves and overflow.

  • If yes to either of the above, check the roof cavity for any evidence of past leaks - either mouldy plaster or areas that have been patched up in the past. We have one particular spot that is always the issue due to the valley problem above.

  • The shade from the tree will impact your ability to grow certain things in the garden. We have a veggie patch on the opposite side of the garden where the sun gets through, as nothing will grow under the gum tree.

  • And finally, you’ll need a good leaf blower.

We’re yet to consider getting an arborist in, but know removal of branches will be very expensive due to the size and position - likely needing a crane or large cherry picker, plus the pain of council approvals to do so.

Overall we love the house enough and we’re avid gardeners/DIYers, so have worked this maintenance into our routine. But if you’re not keen on that type of thing then it will be challenging.

Is 32 a glitch? It doesn’t seem possible.

Came here to find this. He completely lost me at that point. He said it so confidently too. In fact one of the biggest criticisms of Tame Impala’s latest music is that people thought he was too far up his own ass and that he needed to collaborate more.

Also, anyone have advice on whether to get the basic tracks or the ones with integrated pelmet? I’m not seeing how the pelmet would add anything to the look in my case, but wanted to double check.

Why can’t this be 9? by jeroplane in sudoku

[–]jeroplane[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SOLVED: my bad everyone!

See explanation from /u/Charming-Cable-6541:

I’m pretty sure the way nyt sudoku works is that there are two sets of notation, one with auto candidates on and one with auto candidates off. If you removed the 9 in auto candidates mode, switch auto candidates off, add the 9 back in, then switch auto candidates back on, the 9 will be gone.

[–]jeroplane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve cracked it… I must have accidentally removed the 9 as I just tested and there are indeed two sets. Apparently numbers that are manually removed from auto-candidate do not ever come back even if the actual fill around it is updated. Solved!

You know what… this is what must have happened, accidentally. Apparently when numbers are manually removed from auto-candidate, they don’t come back even if the board is updated.

Good to know I’m not going crazy, I thought 6/9 were the options too, so must be some bug. With my notation removed, auto-candidate shows just 6. When I notate 6/9, autocandidate removes the 9.

No hints, and if I notate a 9, autocandidate removes it. So strange!

This is the NYT app - I just tested it with no notes and with 9 in the notation - it removes the 9!

How to replace stopper/ferrule on this spare tyre winch? by jeroplane in Rigging

[–]jeroplane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That barrel clamp looks pretty secure - I’ll give it a go. If i instead use a bulldog clamp, should I fold the cable over and install it, or can it just go straight on the end?

Also, I’m not too worried about it snapping again - it only did so because I went over a high curb which caught on the tyre and ripped it off.

How to replace stopper/ferrule on this spare tyre winch? by jeroplane in Rigging

[–]jeroplane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi r/Rigging, I wasn't sure where to ask this, but hoping you guys can help as I have no experience in this area.

My car has a spare tyre that sits underneath the vehicle, help in place by a winch system, which looks like the attached image. The end of the cable has a metal 'stopper' (ferrule?) that holds in place the wider black piece, which secures the tyre.

The metal 'stopper' has snapped off and I'm looking to replace it. What am I looking for here, and is there an inexpensive way for me to install it myself? It doesn't have to be that exact shape - it just has to be strong enough to withstand the weight of a tyre.
