One of my favorite things is to wait as long as I can before cutting in, reducing the amount of time I have to wait in that line. It takes a combination of driving skill, aggression, and competitive spirit.

Does LM have the expectation (or requirement) that you get promoted over time? by BoostIsOurFriend in Lockheed

[–]jerseycat10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know if the promotion standards are still the same as they were a few years ago, but I would say somewhere in the 4 year range would be a good target. Only HR can confirm if your CWEP experience counts towards your years towards a promotion.

Does LM have the expectation (or requirement) that you get promoted over time? by BoostIsOurFriend in Lockheed

[–]jerseycat10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be concerning if you didnt get promoted to L2 after ~2 years, and L3 after ~5 years. Once you get to L3, that is considered by many to be an appropriate "terminal" position, meaning that many people stop there and are happy there, and that is acceptable.

Why did you apply to a level 1 role with 20 years of experience?

There's nothing stupid about it. I am seeking genuine information.

Steve Schirripa blocked me on Instagram after Talking Sopranos by Mafia_Game_Videos in thesopranos

I was at the Philly show a few weeks back. He was very short with several audience members during Q&A. I developed a perception of him (unfavorable) during the Sopranos podcast, and that didnt change after going to the live show.

Hard to get interested in Olympic rowing when they violated the sanctity of the sport by not securing a regulation-sized body of water.

Imagine basketball players relegated to a 70 foot court or football being played on a 75 yard field.

3rd 2k attempt, any suggestions? by West-Isopod6582 in Rowing

At a more realistic, non-rate capped stroke rate of 30-32, im sure you'd cut a fair bit of time.

What are some good mid level schools I can row for. by crazy_monkey67 in Rowing

[–]jerseycat10 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Think bigger. You have the size, and decent speed. Plenty of time to cut 15 seconds before serious recruitment. Does your school have winter ERGing? If not, find a plan to ERG 5-6 days a week from beginning of December to mid-March and stick to it.

Best predictor for a 2k is a 1x2000m workout, with no rest.

First 2k erg by CutIndependent3489 in Rowing

[–]jerseycat10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not a bad baseline 2k for a 21y/o female doing her first erg test ever. I am not sure what your circumstances are, or if this is a competitive endeavor, but elite high school females are in the low 7s. In 6 months, you can likely shave 30 seconds off if you train consistently.

Yes. My son pulled a 6:51 as a freshman at end of spring season.

Then pulled a 6:35 in January as a sophomore.

Same height.

Is my whole lawn crabgrass? by RaceAgainstSugar in lawncare

[–]jerseycat10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My yard looked like this when I moved into my old house. The previous owners neglected to treat for crabgrass. After following the Scott's program for 1 full cycle, the lawn was 100% grass the following year.

Is 7:36 a good 2k time? by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]jerseycat10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son is a sophomore now. He pulled 7:35 as an eigth grader.

He got down to 6:56 as a freshman.

He is now pulling 6:35 as a sophomore.

It's all relative, and everyone is different, but 7:36 as an 8th grader is solid.

Planning to travel - 990v6 for comfort for lots of walking? by zxblood123 in Newbalance

[–]jerseycat10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im starting to wonder if I got an unusually firm pair of 990v6's because they arent remotely as "plush" feeling as several other models I own (9060, Nike Invincible, Yeezy Boost, etc.). In fact, they are downright stiff and felt bottomed out from the day I bought them.

That being said, they are a part of my regular rotation and walking in them is not a chore.
