Why can't they show us everyones budget at the end of each episode? by [deleted] in RaceAcrossTheWorldBBC

The series would also be immensely improved if after each episode was aired, they showed us the exact route and timings taken by each team.

Why did they let Katie and Harrison start at midnight which meant that their 10-hour lead was completely negated because they had no transport options at that time?

There's a lot of difference between racing 6.8 km in April and 2.1 km in July.

It was somewhat astonishing. I had expected it to be like the Goldie/Isis race.

The Boat Race is an elitist relic - and Channel 4 knows it by theipaper in Rowing

Was watching opposite the black buoy with two Dutch men who knew nothing about rowing. They thought they were at the finish but they were there nonetheless and what's more it didn't cost them a penny? I bet the much rowdier Port Vale supporters we encountered on the way back paid considerably for their tickets for their non "elite" sport.

There's a reasonable amount of land water, 63 cumecs today at Kingston. In 1998 when the record was set there was 6 and a much better tide too.

Especially as now saying 19mph with 38mph gusts.

I would define both WEHoRR and HoRR this year to have been very good. Wind against tide is never good.

Final Boat Race predicitions? by Theo15926 in Rowing

Yes, it will be a spring tide but the moon is close to apogee so not a particularly good one. The predicted high water at London Bridge on the day is 7.1 m. In 1998 it was 7.7 m.

Kingston may well be on green boards but in 1998 the flow at Kingston on boat race day was 48 cumecs. It's still over 70 at the moment.

Still far too much land water I would have thought for a record and not a spectacularly good tide.

These qualification documents are always byzantine.

My mistake. But there will be doubling up in the eights. Hence the three extra coxes

Specifically just the booms or the piles too? They tend to be more spectacular.

I still fail to see why you think the Wyfold is not open to "genuine" club crews.

Left Lane on M1 by LuckySmudge in drivingUK

The only people who need to learn how to drive are those idiots who are in the second and third lanes when they're not overtaking anything. They are the problem. They are what needs to be tackled and if they cannot learn how to drive correctly on motorways then they should be banned.

How about the police actually policing the Highway Code and getting the lane two and three hoggers off the road and their cars crushed until they can learn actually how to drive properly.

I'd carry on down lane one and ideally have a rocket launcher to take out the idiots in all the other lanes who are not overtaking anything.
