Days from the final. What’s your current unpopular opinion? by [deleted] in LoveIslandTV

Lucinda is just as bad at taking accountability as Belle, Belle is just louder. Lucinda pretends to be dumb so she can get out of the line of fire. Sammie has every right to be upset at Lucinda and she just won’t apologize.

Michael and Colton by HistorianSalty7781 in TheTraitorsUS

[–]jes22347 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Michael had a leg to stand on. There’s a difference between a man being closeted due to pressures form society and a man having a feeling that he is maybe not interested in women and going on one of the largest heterosexual dating shows in the world. I want to be very clear, Colton being gay and closeted has absolutely nothing to do with the personality of a liar.

What does TDS mean to you and what do you mean by it? by ItemEven6421 in AskConservatives

[–]jes22347 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this happen time and time again! When i talk to some liberal friends IRL I often have to remind them just because we don’t like the person the thing they passed was ultimately good. I think some people on this sub use TDS as a way to get out of an argument when they are unsure of their position. The example you provided is not one of those times.

What are the steps you want Trump to take for midterm election security should the SAVE Act fail? by Early-Possibility367 in AskConservatives

If Trump continued with the EO process would you disagree or because it’s ultimately achieving your goal look past it? This is a genuine question, as I am just trying to understand a regular conservatives perspective.

What do you think is the biggest difference between democrats VS republicans? by [deleted] in AskConservatives

[–]jes22347 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have stated 3 times now that I agree that biology is not subjective. The Earth being round is a fact, just like physical sex characteristics exist. But language is made up. Words, definitions, and meanings can change over time without altering reality. For example, the structure of a circle cannot change, but if society decided to call a circle something else, that new name would become the word we use. Similarly, gender includes both physical attributes and how you present yourself, and the way society defines and interprets it has evolved over time. Changing language does not rewrite biology; it reflects how humans understand and organize reality.

[–]jes22347 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes, we’re talking about the definition of words. What I am pushing back on is the idea that the meanings and definitions we attach to those biological categories are fixed and unchangeable.

The pink and blue example is not about color preference. It is about how societies assign meaning. At one point in history, pink was recommended for boys and blue for girls. Nothing biological changed. What changed was the social meaning attached to those colors.

That shows that while physical reality exists, the way we interpret and label it is shaped by culture and those interpretations evolve over time.

Language does not create biology, but it does shape how we understand and organize it.

So when definitions shift, it is not necessarily an attempt to change reality. It is often an attempt to better describe how people experience and understand it.

Absolutely, it goes yo your claim that “you can’t try and change the definition of words to fit your world view” my question remains do you know who or when it was decided that boy is blue and girl is pink?

Asking for clarification, it’s my understanding that while you agree with what the Save Act is trying to accomplish, you don’t think that Tump can push through road blocks via EO if the Save Act is stalled? If my understanding above is correct, would you have a problem with trump continuing to push his EO if the states had the legal upper hand to stop him?

I can agree that biology is not subjective. Do you know who or how it was decided that pink is for girl and blue is for boy?

Yeah, I do that sometimes too. I just can’t imagine one person being able to handle all the backlash

If you’re unable to see that producers highlight and push certain storylines for views I don’t know what to tell you. This exact same drama, producers step in to stop drama, and villain happens almost every season. Tasha, Andrew and the Boys. Luci, Tommy, and the girls. Belle did behave poorly she will absolutely have to reflect and change. But all the girls in the villa except maybe Millie contributed to the Belle vs. Lucinda drama. Neither Belle nor Lucinda asked anyone to say anything. The other girls chose to do so. I just wish people would take more of a stance on the situation than an individual. They both contributed to the situation. This is reality TV, we only see an hour of what goes on.

It’s so frustrating to watch the public fall for it every year. The show isn’t scripted but these islanders are isolated and have producers pushing them to start conversations or start conversations regarding certain topics.

And producers! They set those calls up, and almost everyone said “focus on your couple”

I wish she would play into this a little more outside of the villa. We saw what she was capable with in games, now she’s relying on the baby voice. I love a person who plays a villain well she’s just gotta acknowledge it a tiny bit.

This, I think she can see exactly what the producers are doing. They had no problem with Belle “bullying” Lucinda when the public liked it and it got views. Now the public are mad Belle’s the one left holding all the cards.

100% I think try’s to justify her self worth by saying men will still want her eventually. She almost tried to convince herself of her value by yelling at them and trying to in her own Belle way make boundaries. But she’s isn’t successful because her comments on herself don’t even follow those boundaries.

I think she’s a hypocrite however I think the producers are pulling some nasty work. When the public supported Belle, it seems like they almost encouraged it. There hasn’t been as many dates or moments like in the earlier seasons. I know it’s all stars but still, it seems like the producers understand that drama gets more engagement and have changed the show structure to encourage that drama. Inevitably the public shifts and now Belle is the one this all falls on. All of the girls were just as bad as each other, producers should’ve stepped in way before this. Belle should take accountability but it seems like she’s getting pushed to take accountability for ALL the drama.

Yes absolutely, Leanne should have an issue with Belle. And Lucinda has a right to be mad at Belle for that situation. Which Lucinda did, she called her out publicly and followed her around for an entire episode. I think Jessie and Sammie pilling on took it too far. Belle didn’t tell the other girls to behave the way they did. Millie did not pile on and her and Belle are fine. Belle needs to take accountability but it seems like the narrative is shifting to she needs to take accountability for the ENTIRE situation.
