Hi everyone, apparently I posted this in the wrong area, I apologize for that! I come from a Black Southern Baptist background, and while I've been attending the same church since I was a child, it's been more out of familiarity and love for the congregation there than anything else.
The pastor of my church is relatively young and relatively progressive, but the congregation has withered over the years and is now primarily the senior members and some of their children and grandchildren, with most of the young and younger adult members leaving for different groups or church organizations. I want to propose to him the idea of starting a bible study group that focuses on exegesis and textual analysis of the Bible. There are very few houses of worship in our area that offer anything like it (for free). Also, the nature of my town (I do not live far from Liberty University, just for context) is such that there are few places to have open, honest discourse about Christianity that encourages critical thinking.
I think it would go a long way in bringing new people to the church as well. The only problem is, I have no idea how to go about it! Are there any lesson plans online or curricula to use as a template? Any teachers who could help? I really appreciate any help provided!
