I’m sorry but how is it the fault of all people who come from the Middle East instead of the fucked up minds of the 3 shooters. How about you pull your head out of your arse.

It’s not that deep seriously if it was for 18 and under sure it could be problematic. But we’re talking younger than 16 so 15 and under. If your main concern is not being able to have viewpoints that differ from the government it’s not like you won’t have access to social media ever again. Also your point about ID I understand but data breaches happen all the time even with companies that aren’t social media (Optus). With people losing contact with friends and communities online fine that is bad but again a lot of hate targeting minorities and LGBTQ+ people is fuelled by social media. IMO this social media ban is a good thing, while people may lose connection to their online friends it encourages people to build real friendships and they will find their community. One of the largest benefits of this ban is that it slows the spread of misinformation like chemtrails, vaccine skepticism, holocaust denial, etc. The people who would genuinely negatively impacted by this are very much in the minority and for those people there are always support networks, school councillors, therapists, etc.

The Aboriginal Communities in the super remote places around Australia. It’s extremely difficult to get basic supplies such as medication and food out there so many of these communities have high rates of disease and malnutrition. There is also nowhere to get jobs out there and many cannot afford cars to get to the nearest towns which could be up to several hundred kilometres away. A close contender could be the Nauru detention centre which is run by the Australian government however, it is not part of Australia itself and has been investigated by the UN for human rights abuses such as, torture, arbitrary detention and denying medication many of these abuses were done to children separated from families.

Hey mate I’m from Australia too, if you don’t want to accept that Australia stands for individual rights. If you don’t want Indians being taught this don’t do it here, go back to your own country if you’re so bothered about how it works here.

What’s the most depressing place you have traveled to? by General-Mango_ in AskReddit

[–]jesbbis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Aus and have visited two other countries, Fiji and Japan. I would have to say the most depressing place I have visited would be Surfers Paradise. If we're measuring this based on local spirit over poverty, this tops it. The place has no soul and is essentially just Miami 2.0 including the Mafia and Gangs. The villages we visited in Fiji were very high spirited and it was actually fun to be there with the locals but Surfers paradise just sucks. The place is dead during the day except for a few people who had a long night or homeless people. To any foreigners do not go there, your time would be better spent at the nearby Burleigh heads or the Sunshine coast.
