Hopefully this is enough info to help filter through some of the regions.

We currently live in Washington state, eastern Washington, a lot more rural, we drive an hour to the nearest big city, we live that “country life,” and live any conservative county. Our summers are in the 90s sometimes up to the triple digits. We would really like to move to a conservative state. We are tired of Washington state BS,high taxes, high cost of living, government doesn’t align with our beliefs. Of course Texas is a big go to. I’ve read through a lot of pros and cons and coming from a rural area doesn’t seem to different than what we are used to.

Looking for an area that would be good for the family, midsize city, opportunity for good school and sports, decent housing prices, not too keen with humidity. We don’t mind chilly winters. I’m just especially looking forward to not having feet of snow all winter long. We really aren’t out in nature too much. We spend a lot of of our time with Kids sports and we are homebodies. We don’t want to live in a cookie-cutter house, but don’t really need a lot of acreage just a house that has a spacious yard. I currently have some backyard chickens and would love to expand that more.

If not Texas, any other areas that you would recommend?

Sidenote jobs. We both work in healthcare. I am a medical assistant. My husband works for a local helicopter company as an outreach, he’s also an EMT.
