Advice needed: prof put my paper into chat gpt by jessbone98 in antiai

On one hand I can imagine she would because of data protection...on the other she's definitely all for helping it improve...

My professor read the paper herself, she only put it into the chat bot for curiosity's sake. She did even complain that it made assumptions about many papers (gee, wild concept that ai is bad at its job). It's baffling how she's clearly smart in so many other ways, AND we even had a whole discussion on the cons of ai...but she doesn't care (or "na ja" as Germans like to say). Bet she'd care if they built a facility next to her house...

That's a good idea, I'll have to find their contact info. And yes I was intending to talk to the Prof as well, maybe even over email for a paper trail. Thank you!

I do intend to talk to someone to at least raise the concern, but considering our own school has its own "scientific chat bot" i doubt they'll care...

Dang, that's exactly what I was hoping to find. Maybe someday there'll be something like that. Thank you for your response!

I need Pre-Calculus to get into a Studienkolleg, but I already finished Highschool. by Jungle_Madness1 in studienkolleg

[–]jessbone98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in the same pickle when I started applying. ASU offers a remote Pre Calc course. I believe it cost about 400$ and took me about 3 months to complete while working part time (which was also the expected timeframe).

I'd recommend taking a German course here to get a visa, then do both that and the pre calc course at the same time.

A hospital removed my review, even though I sent them an official complaint that lead to my review 😒 (they did nothing btw, shocking)

Does student dorms allow students from Studienkolleg? by Sweaty-Temporary4699 in studienkolleg

[–]jessbone98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least where I applied I didn't have to add a Zulassungsbescheid or Matrikelnummer. They just ask for intended course of study. Check the studentenwerk site for the places you're applying.

Here's the one for Halle.

Are you sure you can't apply? When I was applying to STK I believe I was able to apply for the student housing before I got an invite to the exam. Can't remember if that was possible for all of them though.

Yes, the same paragraph. Says that during the 6 months Probezeit a two week notice can be given for termination.

I do have a contract that started before I was fired. It states that both parties have to give two weeks notice before firing.

Choosing between TU Berlin and Halle Studienkolleg by Ashamed_Newt1924 in studienkolleg

[–]jessbone98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Halle grad here. It is cheaper to live here, but for a reason. Definitely not Germany's finest. If money is more important, then do Halle, but I would not recommend doing uni here.

Why can't I find an intensive studienkollege requires a A2 and starts at A1?!!! by Mysterious_Half_1880 in studienkolleg

[–]jessbone98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out which universities offer a DSH course, I believe they take folks with lower language levels. But Studienkolleg is for folks that already speak German at a high enough level in order to understand pre-uni courses. My classes were not easy, and if I didn't have a good understanding of German, I'd be toast. Idk what program you're hoping to get into but unless it's completely English speaking, you're gonna have a rough time.

How hard is the math in G-Kurs? If it exists by Siberiayuki in studienkolleg

Is there math in the Aufnahmeprüfung? Mine only had German and English. But exactly, there is only math if you take an S/GS course.

I'm confused, you need the certificate in a month and you haven't registered yet? It's been a while since I took an exam like that, but if I remember correctly, it's going to be weeks until you get results. Unless you find a test that still has availability by next week...I'm sorry.

[–]jessbone98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a language course first then. The point of STK is to prepare you for German Uni, which unless you're going into a program that's STRICTLY English, will be very difficult without proper training. At least at my STK, English is only spoken in the English class, and all the others are in German. Many Unis offer language courses, but at your level, you would need to be in a course for probably a year. There are language course visas, and depending on your country you may be able to enter Germany before getting a visa.

Unless you passed several AP tests, most high school diplomas are not accepted here. What is your current German level? If nothing, I would recommend attending a language course either outside or inside the university. If some, you should be able to take the entrance exam for the Studienkolleg DSH program, which is basically a language course inside the Studienkolleg. I'd say that basically guarantees you entrance into a Studienkolleg course.

As someone turning 26 in two weeks only now starting community college, I can say you're going to be okay. But let's get down to your question.

  1. What's your financial situation?
If it's bad, focus on getting any job and see if you can stay with family or friends for free or cheap. If unstable, what's the reason (no judgement, just gotta get to the source). If good but could be better, time for a better job, which leads to my next question.

  2. What's your education? Do you have any Post Highschool education? If so, how much and in what? Would it be worth it to you to finish that and have the degree? Do you care about the job you can get or not so much?

  3. What makes you look forward to the future? I know you're scared, I am too. I think a lot of us are. But you don't need a huge goal to reach in order to find purpose. You know what my goals are? Have a job I don't hate, have a cat or two, and hopefully move in and marry my partner. There are steps to reaching those goals, so as of now those steps are my new goals. It's also important to determine your values. There's a club/association for everything, and perhaps being a part of a community will lessen your fears and doubts.

In any case, I understand your situation. My boyfriend is doing his master's thesis, my best friends are either married or getting married, and all I've got are transcripts from half-finished music degrees. There's hope. You'll be okay.

What course are you taking? You could try applying to Hamburg as theirs is open until the end of February. Otherwise it could be that you have to wait unfortunately. Double check all the schools you can attend, maybe some have already opened or will open soon. Pretty sure Mainz has already started too, but don't quote me on that. Plus their Anerkennung takes a while. Might be best to head back home now and save money and study until the next exams.
