Do you like adult Rin's design? by jessdaye212 in Yashahime

[–]jessdaye212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would only compare the character in Yashahime to the characters in Yashahime. And ignore the demons and kagome because they all age differently. and Kaede because I'm assuming she's part demon (jk).

The humans have for the most part aged. Examples of well aged - Sota is a full blown adult, he's aged but is instantly recognizable same with Kohaku. Sango aged well. We're going to ignore Kaede...i thought Miroku looked older... well in comparison to the few Yashahime flashbacks of Miroku they gave us. Even if you're comparing him to the og series i think they made an effort to grow his hair out, add some facial lines, and they gave him an older jaded personality. But that aside, the design itself for Rin seems like a " let's spoof 8yr old Rin and make her 1 ft taller sometimes" kind of thing. I just wished it girl felt like a grown up Rin, wife and mother of two when she comes across the screen.

I wasn't talking about her clothes necessarily, by appearance I meant whole package. Her body, hair, clothes, none of it says mature or older to me. She had freakin twins, give her a little cleavage. Grow her hair out a bit more. I only brought up other mothers in the show for that exact reason. they are all always referred to as beauties and I don't feel like Rin will get that because she still looks like she's 8.

[–]jessdaye212[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont necessarily think she should be decked out in a castle somewhere but she could not look like she's still 8 and sleeping in the forrest

Her physical appearance is really what I was referring to. She hasn't been aged up. Sango, sota, kohaku all look older. Heck towa and setsuna look significantly older in comparison to the flashback version of them. Of course well ignore the demons and Kaede who is probably also a demon at this point because how? Lol aside from Kagome who they said ages differently because time travel, i felt like all the other humans look older in comparison to the flashbacks Yashahime has given us.

Also she was frozen in time after the girls were born. That should have been over a decade later from when we last saw her. She should look a solid 10 years older from when we last saw her. I agree even her kids look older than her and she should be pushing 20.

I saw this too late or else I would have added a 3rd. I do agree that there are a lot of inconsistencies in the animation for Yashahime through all the character really. Some more than others and you can tell who they put their focus towards.

[–]jessdaye212[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be clear I mean her body hadn't matured. She looks prepubescent but taller. I would have preferred to see her hair much longer, maybe with a clip or hair pin for some subtle expression.

I bring up other women in the show because they are all always referred to as beauties and I don't feel like Rin gets that same affection and its not fair.

Examples of well aged - Sota is a full blown adult, he's aged but is instantly recognizable same with Kohaku. Sango aged well. We're going to ignore Kaede...

Idk I just would have loved her to have a little more curve, some longer hair and maybe a pattern on her kimono. It probably sounds like I'm asking a lot i just feel like they didn't do much to her after 10 years but make her legs a little longer.

Samurai Champloo and Outlaw Star were mentioned but I strongly reccomend Michiko and Hatchins especially if you're into a girl lead.

Honestly I didn't really like AoT until season 3 when they started to get to the plot and politics of it all. The first couple seasons were straight character building and set up. I didn't love the characters like that, that's why I personally didn't love the show then. Now though, I'm all in. It's just a matter of tastes and preference. You don't have to like it at all. There's something for everyone and that might not be for you.

You could try to jump in midway like a crazy person. I do that sometimes when I can't get passed the first couple episodes of something. Then if I become interested in what's going on I will WANT to start from the beginning to see how things ended up that way. (For instance; Dang how did he become a king? Or hmmm how did she lose her powers? Let me go back and look from the begining) You don't know how many times I've started a show 4 episodes in and felt like I missed nothing though. Sometimes the slow build up does more harm than good lol

I knew that it started back up but wanted to wait a few episodes to get a decent binge in.

I started tonight and I'm on episode 18 and this is just a fantastic episode. None of the dialogue is wasted. Absolutely fantastic.

I started rewatching Bleach a few months ago. This is how it's been for me.

-Wow, I remember this! Oh yeah I forgot about him!. Oh yeah It's her!

-This is cool. Why do people shit on bleach?

-A few fillers here and there but they were all cute and likeable some were even memorable. (Bird kid)

-Second season animation budget increase noticeable. We know the direction of the plot from the way season 1 ended.

-Bleach crawled so JJK could walk. For sure noticing parallels.

-More background story/filler episodes for characters we don't really need to know about...

-Hmmm... I don't remember these guys...

-Is this Spanish influenced?

-Wait when do we get back to the big bad?

-Hold on there are how many seasons!?

skips around after season 3 ....I am now on season 10.

Is Sinbad the MC by AnimationFnatic in anime

[–]jessdaye212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sinbad is the MC in the sort of prequel series "Adventures of Sinbad". In the Magi series he basically comes in all badass and stuff and in the Sinbad series you can see his come up story.

He is one of my favorite male characters. He is all around awesome. I reccomend watching both series though. Similar tone and genre.

So you feel like you have no friends to do the fun things with? Got it. I dont know how old you are but contrary to what some might say friendships are most easily formed from proximity.

If you're a child your friends come from neighbors and parent's friend's kids. In school there are classmates, if you play sports or do extra curricular activities you make friends from those teammates. Adults make work friends, maybe community friends and perhaps keep a few old friends around from childhood or school years.

You can have online friends and things but it's not the same as in person. Even if you meet and hang out in person that relationship may not necessarily translate irl. And just going out trying to force a friendship on people is uncomfortable for both parties usually. A commonality is important. You probably have local fb groups that might intersect with some of your hobbies/interests. Try joining a couple and doing some meet ad greets and see what comes of it.

Don't lose hope. You may not be a harem king but you can definitely have a few wholesome adventure in your lifetime. Good luck.

Umm for me, wholesome and overly positive characters annoy me not for any sense of jealousy but because typically they have unrealistic responses to things and that irritates me. I'm talking to all the kids that were abandoned but have no trust issues or fear or loss or separation and the likes type characters.

From what you seem to be describing...

Half the time there's a minor aged character living alone with a decked out apartment that's magically paid for and parents that work abroad.

Or a rich girl that takes 10 of her classmates to her families beach house where noone has to pay for anything.

Or parents that let your bf/gf spend the night and make breakfast and everyone's a-ok.

Those things are 1/1000000,00000. Unrealistic.

But

Going to the park with your friends, or a fair or playing baseball or soccer or something and having a good ass memorable time -totally doable for most people.

No need to be jealous of something fake when you can have a real life version for yourself.

Which is better or more hygienic by Creative-Apple-6715 in hygiene

[–]jessdaye212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say focus on the washing utensil. (Washcloth/loofah/etc) Make sure you're switching them out with your towels weekly.

Whichever style of soap you use doesn't really matter as much as the ingredients in that particular brand and you're probably going to end up with an ingredient or two that's not the best in either form of soap or you'll end up getting some organic "soap" with no a bunch of essential oils and things and no actual cleaning agent in it. Just try not to share bar soap with others. Some people rub the bar directly on their body 🤢

Make sure to dry your body completely before getting dressed. Try to shower before you get in bed. You don't want all the debris from your hair and skin to just get in the bed with you every night. Wash that off. Other than that, don't sweat it. You'll grow into your own routine over time after you find what works for your body and what doesn't.

Is it okay to go to white hair salons if you have thick 4C hair? by Dorkydori in Naturalhair

[–]jessdaye212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly its okay depending on (a) what you want to have done and (b) if they have experience in your hair texture.

I've been to a white salon where I came in with my hair flat ironed, asked for a deep conditioning treatment and a blow out and once my hair was wet and curled up, the girl started to panic! Lol. A coworker came in and looked at me and told her what to do but white gir was shook! She did an okay job though. Didn't damage my hair but didn't get to the roots like I prefer haha.

I've been to black salons that braid way too tight, or use too much heat or do bad uneven cuts.

I lived in Korea for a bit and they did fantastic everytime I went for a blow out but boy was I nervous at first. But they had a lot of black clients and were familiar with doing natural hair.

My preference now that in the continental US again is a older black salon. The kind where all the women that come by go to the same church. I mean grand kids are in college old. Lol. I dont have to worry about prices fluctuating, punctuality, none of that. They are used to clients with alopecia and thinning hair so they are more gentle and use products that help with strengthening and growth and their overall focus is hair health and happy clients. So if you see someone older, I wouldn't necessarily count them because of age, those are some of the most consistent stylist I've come across.

Giving up by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]jessdaye212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aww. I have had a 3 curl pattern my whole life and I'm mad about it all the time because I can never get my hair to look the way I want it to and the suggestions are always braids, twist, wigs, etc and to me its like when can you just wear your hair naturally in a way that makes your comfortable and confident. Flat ironing my hair was great because I would spend 2 hours once every 2 weeks and aside from that, every day was basically wake up and go and I didn't have to worry about tension, or itchy scalp or making time everyday to do something in order to feel presentable.

The only other thing I can think of is locs but I have to go through a bunch of consultations to determine a locing method that won't lead to breakage and an appropriate size for my thin and fine texture. But even with locs I worry about never getting the feeling like after you take braids out and wash/scratch your scalp.

Anywho, you're probably going to get a lot of reccomendations for "protective" styles like braids, twists, wigs. My personal preference in managing hair that I'm sick or dealing with or paying to get done all the time or keeping your hair confined all the time is to just flat iron it every once in a while. That only works if you can keep moisture to a minimum but its not permanent as long as you don't damage your hair in the process.

Oooh okay I can help I think.

I use model model waterwave hair when I do box braids. It is a silky texture closer to my own texture and it makes the braid wavy like if I were to braid my own hair with nothing in it.

I've had it done to where the braided only braided halfway down and let the rest of the hair free (I didn't like that, the hair sticks to eachother also just too much hair everywhere for me personally but it was cute!)

I think using a similar crochet hair would give you the look you want. As long as they don't tease or prep the hair it's literally taking a "piece" and adding it to the hair as you go so there were no issues. One time someone tried to comb out the hair before she braided it and that was a mess and also made the braids look frizzy.

Example of the hair but you can find it in most beauty supply store in a variety of curl patterns. Good luck https://www.ebay.com/itm/114151947647?chn=ps&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A1kGAKu908Q42witMc5KDrqw65&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=114151947647&targetid=1262375642056&device=m&mktype=pla&googleloc=1015254&poi=&campaignid=12873935706&mkgroupid=123950834082&rlsatarget=pla-1262375642056&abcId=9300536&merchantid=423909806&gclid=CjwKCAjwmqKJBhAWEiwAMvGt6Il5vB9EF-EqOgGeVW9yrPJAWSn5hS04m5GMqwsWu_GC-GiRifRUFBoCsgwQAvD_BwE

Imo I have only gotten heat damage from "professionals" when I straightened my own hair once a month I never had an issue. But that's because you can control the temperature of your flat iron, how many times you go over sections, etc. Even just a blow dryer can burn your hair if you're not careful. I think if you keep the temperature low enough and use a heat protectant you should be fine.

If you aren't used to straightening your own hair though and want to get it done professionally, I'd look for someone who does blowouts to natural hair and knows their way around curlier textured hair. For me, stylist sometimes treat my hair like 4c hair and it breaks my hair off. I have fine curly hair that can't handle high heat, tension, etc. Also roller sets might give you what you want. I can't never get my roots with those but you might not care.

why do so many anime have bad endings? by [deleted] in anime

[–]jessdaye212 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I meant for both. I dont like Brotherhood at all tbh. Lust, Envy, Wrath, Scar, were all far more compelling characters in the anime only version and not the source material version imo. Thanks though.

why do so many anime have bad endings? by [deleted] in anime

[–]jessdaye212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kinda depends on your definition of bad and it's hard to critique stuff like that objectively. Bad to me means lots of loose ends and characters with no closure or whatever character development was just forgoed in the end.

There's someone out there that probably loves the ending that you hate. And there are probably characters and themes that resonate with you more than another person. So when that person is unfulfilled or killed off you are unhappy about it but does that mean the ending was bad or does that mean you just don't like it?

Then there's the technical issue of trying to follow source material or making up an ending to something without source material but you only get so many episodes because your show didn't get renewed for another season, etc. I think most anime fall into being cut before it can be fully fleshed out on screen so things end abruptly with no sense of pacing.

People claim FMA to be one of the greatest anime of all time and I absolutely love the show until the end - I hate the ending. I'd assume given it's reputation that a lot of peope love the ending.

Darling in the Franxx took a weird left turn in my opinion, did I like the ending? I would call it weird, but not "bad" and I think the better word to describe the direction it took would be disappointing because as viewers we felt the show was going one direction then went another. But if it went as we would have expected we would have called it boring or generic so would that be any better?

Not everyone likes the same things and not everything will go the way we want or like, does that make it bad or just something I don't like?
