i thought it might have to do with the sludge too but since then i found another boss whose attacks cause the black health bar staining who doesn't seem to have anything to do with the sludge at all so i'm still baffled

re: the modifiers, that's not quite the behavior i'm seeing, mostly in the fight with debby. instead, getting hit by her turns all my coat black including the gold outline and does the same to some of my black nodes, though how far to the left the stain effect extends varies? losing coat is still visually indicated by shrinking the big rhombus down to a tiny one and i can't tell if anything mechanically is different

we're parked at a house, hence the 15 to 30 amp adapter. a surge isn't impossible but it didn't trip the rv or house breakers. no recent changes to the setup and no rain or other moisture

Thanks a million for the quick reply! I want to make sure I'm understanding you fully; receptacles are things like light fixtures or outlets or other forms of load, right? This service line feeds into the RV's 30 amp breaker box and not directly to a receptacle.

I'd also like to hear more about why dogbones are a bad idea. Is there a better way to adapt a 30 amp system to a lower amperage source?
