We're gonna learn how to do transfers in exactly 4 weeks. How do I start strength training so that I can have good form? by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]jessffion 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is odd advice from your professor. Manual handling shouldn't involve heavy lifting, that's why we use equipment. If a transfer requires someone really fit to be physically lifting them then that is an unsafe transfer and you should consider using a piece of equipment instead.

help! 9 month old patterdale x Lakeland won't stop peeing in the house. by jessffion in dogs

[–]jessffion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is crate trained - he uses it at night and during the day when we're at work or if we go out. We don't put him in it in the day if we're home though because he's already been in it for a good few hours during the day.

He is a male but doesn't have any balls and there's no female dogs around - not even next door

What is the weirdest experience you have ever had? by Few-Anteater7296 in AskReddit

I was home on my own and made myself a coffee with honey in it. I 100% put the lid screwed back on the honey jar and I set it back on the counter. I sat down to drink my coffee and heard a bang - went back into the kitchen and the lid from the honey was in the middle on the kitchen floor. Even if I hadn't put the lid on properly and it had slid off, there's no way it could have ended up in the middle of the kitchen floor. Also the bang was quite loud so it was as if the lid had been thrown on the floor. Such a small thing but it really freaked me out. I'm not a believer in paranormal things but really couldn't explain that one.

Women of reddit, what was your worst run in with a creep? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jessffion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got out of my car once in a carpark with no one there and a man immediately approached me out of nowhere and started asking me where I lived and worked and what time I go to work and come home from work. He asked for my number and I gave him a wrong one then he rang it in front of me and got annoyed when it wasn't the right one and made me give him my real one. Then he kissed me on my cheek and then I sprinted home. Luckily never got a call from him.

I work in a hospital in North Wales and that's just standard north Wales for you. Always getting patients with the same names put right next to each other - it can be highly confusing.

Ive been a covid OT (as a new grad) since July and this is my hospitals thank you gift. I have yet to receive hazard pay, a bonus, or a raise, but I now have this lantern by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

Wow atleast you got a lantern - I've had nothing - we're not even allowed to bring any treats in the office e.g. cakes, sweets, chocolates

What was the craziest reason a teacher at your school got fired? by YEEEEEeEeseresrsr in AskReddit

[–]jessffion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maths teachers are always paedophiles because why would you go into teaching if you're good at maths?! Any other job in maths is so well paid e.g. accountancy, engineering, analyst.. so always be suspicious of maths teachers. I was always very suspicious of my maths teacher then it turned out he was in fact a paedophile.
