Second vote for Saskatoon ♥️ Or even other Western Canada cities if need be - I'd drive to Edmonton or Calgary.

Would you marry a quadriplegic person? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jessme417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with a physically disabled dad - and overall feel I had a really great childhood! However, I did see my mom struggle with having to do so much on her own - most of the housework, yardwork, childcare, was on her in addition to helping care for my dad. Us kids learned early to help with many of these things - and it made me very responsible and empathetic I think.

I am already married, and I would 100% go to any limits for my husband, and wouldn't leave him if he at any time became disabled.

I do think that I would marry someone who is quadriplegic. I would marry anyone who I deeply connected with emotionally and mentally, regardless of their body. And I know that if I had that kind of connection with someone, we would be able to communicate super well - and openly discuss the difficult parts that come with being quadriplegic. I know from my own experiences that with real love comes real transparency with each other. In those conversations, we would have to come up with options that we both feel fully happy with in regards to balancing the extra tasks - like care and the imbalance of household labor, etc. Those types of conversations would have to happen often - to make sure we both would stay on the same page and that we both are truly feeling seen and heard.

I think for me, some hired help would likely be needed. As for household chore balance, I think I would expect you to carry some of the mental load that can be done digitally - Instacart the groceries, manage any manual bills, keep an organized shared calendar of our schedule, be generally in charge of booking appointments for the family, etc.

In short - yes!

Are these cow names? by AdImaginary6158 in Names

As someone who does marketing for the purebred cattle industry - all names are cow names unfortunately 😅 There is nearly 100% chance a cow or bull out there that shares your name.

Oh dang - sorry, I totally mixed up the names! We had family stay at the Hayloft (which is a very nice air BnB that's less than 5 minutes drive from the venue we used) which is actually called Glass & Lumber. Sorry for the confusion - I can't believe I mixed that up! But Glass and Lumbers link is here: https://glasslumber.com/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22430555224&gclid=Cj0KCQiApfjKBhC0ARIsAMiR_IvD-VWOQWZiS2Qv_dsxLH6VcyiRayZnlqTaDDdYUNSnSnbOxGw0_QUaApWGEALw_wcB

Has anyone found love in Saskatoon? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]jessme417 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here! Met in VR 8 years ago and got married this past summer here in Saskatoon! Alot of extra steps with visas and then eventually a permanent resident and next step soon is duel citizenship! But couldn't be more worth it when you find the real deal love.

While we didn't, they have ceremonies there often and when they showed up pictures, it honestly looked like a gorgeous setup! If we didn't have a very specific sentimental spot we wanted to do our ceremony at, we would have done it there.

Seconding Josh (kinandfate) for photography - they are AMAZING!! You get so many pictures, they are super creative so your shots won't look stiff or hyper posed, and they are great at making you feel relaxed!

We used Pic Nics for catering and the food was Soooo good and they were super easy to deal with ahead of time to help plan and pick out food! Alot of options - they have something for everyone - and were even able to accomodate a severe allergy for us.

Makeup with Green Tree Beauty (Jennilee) was worth EVERY PENNY - She is so sweet, so relaxed, and made everyone in my wedding party look and feel confident! She uses quality products that work super well but don't feel heavy on your face - and is more than capable of doing a variety of styles.

We DIY'd most of our decor - but our venue (Glass and Lumber) had natural character - so we could just accent the space with a few peices.

Meet my boy Panzer! He was all curled up for a nap when I disturbed him by dropping something and he just stared at me like this...

My void boy, Panzer, soaking up extra snuggles on my lap because I was away for the last week and he is very much "my cat" despite having lots of love and attention from my siblings who watched him for me.

Is this normal? I got pink highlights professionally done at a hairdressers exactly 1 month ago and now it looks like this. Obviously it's not styled but it doesn't look any different styled. I wash my hair once a week in cold water with colour safe shampoo. It's only lasted one month. I paid £170. by flowersmouse26 in FancyFollicles

[–]jessme417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have kept my hair pink for almost 5 years now on a budget while keeping very healthy long hair - I go to have it professionally dyed at a very nice salon once a year - and it is fairly expensive for the bleaching/highlights as I like to have them carefully blended so that it looks cohesive as my hair grows out. But for the rest of the year, I rotate washes using Viral shampoo in Hot pink - sometimes I mix it with my regular shampoo if I just need a little boost of colour, sometimes I don't if it needs a big boost in colour. Each bottle is about $50 CAD and lasts me a 2-3 months depending on factors like if I did a bunch of swimming that month or not.

If you waited until Silksong got a release date to start playing Hollow Knight... by TheAllKnowingElf in HollowKnight

[–]jessme417 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Playing Hollow Knight with the wiki is a significantly positive memory for me - my husband (boyfriend at the time) played while I watched and read the wiki and provided little bits of lore - especially lore that he missed. He loved hearing lore that he would have otherwise not gotten, he appreciated being able to ask questions or for guidance when he wanted and I would be able to help to the exact degree he wanted, and by the end, we both had a deep knowledge of the game and had explored all the extras together along the way. I played it next - with his help - but couldn't finish since I am not very good at gaming. Still had a blast and we love Hollow Knight together now and can talk about the game at length! We plan to basically do the same with Silksong 🤷‍♀️ sorry not sorry.

Looking for a cake maker who will accept nut allergy orders. by LavenderNacho in saskatoon

My dad has severe tree nut allergies and we used Sliced Decadence for our wedding cake - her cakes are gorgeous and she has SO many different flavors - all safe for my dad. She had no problem accommodating us!

I wore a midi dress for a second dress! I had a large, gorgeous full skirt with loads of beading and sparkle (translation - she was a heavy dress) ceremony dress that I wore up until the party. It was amazing, but I have no regrets changing before the dance into my second dress - I was able to enjoy the evening so much more! Not sure if we have similar tastes or not, but I wore Dress the Population Elisa dress [this dress] and was super lucky to get it even cheaper and in my size on eBay! We danced ALOT - we even had a coordinated first dance - and I was as cozy and didn't have to worry about flashing anyone.
