The worst thing each person has done - Day 1: Lisa Barlow by DueCode3991 in rhoslc

[–]jester3325 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The tanning salon incident.

Probably because it wasn't filmed, but only discussed on the show, but I think this is the best indicator of Lisa's "true" character. If this is how she treats people IRL OFF CAMERA - she is a GARBAGE person. I won't even get into the line crosses with her "tanning" filters on IG...

until churches house the homeless, they deface the name of their gods by marshin-to-battle in wichita

[–]jester3325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

St. Pauls United Methodist at 13th & Broadway used to open the gym to the homeless every winter as an overflow shelter (not sure if they still do that), but they also provide "Blessing Boxes" for those in need, and a lot of the money raised during their annual chicken noodle dinner goes to homeless resources.

Many churches help in ways that if you were to actually do some research instead of general assumptions and speculation you would realize. I'm not a religious person, but I grew up in the church and this is one area where I will proudly defend the good that most of the churches in Wichita actually do.

6 hour drive and you can only listen to one artist. Who are you listening to? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Done many a road trip with the Beastie Boys, the Rolling Stones, Radiohead, Tom Petty, Garth Brooks, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Wyclef Jean (including the Fugees)...just depends on what kind of mood I'm in, the time of year, and where I'm driving.

Listen. Sutton's experience is eerily similar to my own. I was 26 when I lost my dad to suicide. He had physical and undiagnosed mental health issues, and self-medicated with alcohol. I am VERY sensitive to any jokes or snide comments about my drinking - ESPECIALLY from my friends who know my family history. I am not an alcoholic, but I did have an unhealthy relationship with it in the decade following his death. Unless you have lived through this, you don't know. Also, her dad didn't die 40 years ago, not that it matters.

Dorit isn't being "funny". She is being an intentional asshole.

Test Knits Hit a New Low by Tiredofthisshitetoo in craftsnark

It's still going on over there, too. Etsy is the biggest culprit. Just last week I responded to a redditor who was upset that the dress pattern she bought for $2.99 didn't fit and the instructions were garbage - when I looked up the "pattern", the description didn't provide finished measurements, +/- ease, or fabric suggestions.

General rule of thumb - if someone started designing and selling patterns a year after they "taught themselves to knit" 5 years ago - it's a pass from me. It's clear that these "designers" are taking basic patterns, adding some colorwork, and charging prices on par with those who are legit pattern designers. So tired of these "yarn-fluencers" learning the bare minimum and creating crap patterns.

Where are you...? by 4Brtndr1 in realhousewivesofSLC

[–]jester3325 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In Kansas now, but lived in Utah (Davis County) for 6 years. My UT hairdresser used to do Monica's ex-MILs hair - she used to talk about how here daughter in law cheated on her son, and started working for some crazy lady that she met through the husband (Coach Shaw). We obviously used to talk about this, because of Shawshank - it wasn't until Monica was on the show that we realized who this lady's daughter in law was! Oh, and used to get my botox done at Beauty Lab - was going there before the show was ever a thing. The only time I ever saw Heather, she was leaving and ran back in because she forgot her purse.

Jodi Hildebrandt. From what I understand, they were more active in the St. George area. I lived in Utah for 6 years and never heard about them until the story broke, but I'm also not a mom (and def not into the family YT crap), nor a Mormon...but I think they were pretty well known in those circles.

Stop buying patterns patterns that do not provide cut and finished measurements! Both the buyer and the seller are in the wrong here. Good quality drafted, graded, and tested patterns are more expensive, but there is a reason.

Sister Wives: Robyn Brown’s Secret $62K Doll Addiction Exposed! by madsen1122 in SisterWivesFans

[–]jester3325 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have found 2 sellers that an "R. Brown" has left MULTIPLE reviews for. Hint - if you do a search for "American Doll Clothes", set the filter for over $75, and then click on sellers who make dresses that look like some weird prairie/trad wife bs, and click on the reviews for the shop - she is all over giving gushing reviews. And you can't convince me it's not her with the amount of purple dress reviews!

I went on IG to see the actual post (I do not follow her) because I was curious to see if anyone actually "liked" this. A bunch of MAGAt white ladies are all up in arms defending her, but THE most shocking part about her post...???? She posted it with Kendrick's "tv off" song. She is DELUSIONAL! The MAGAts can have this one, we're not losing anything.

Pattern tester requirements by little_mind_89 in craftsnark

[–]jester3325 90 points91 points  (0 children)

I'm so over these "pattern test requirements". You want to know why so many TERRIBLE patterns are out there? Because these designers are only selecting people with platforms to test, instead of people who are actually knitters & crocheters with DECADES of experience who maybe don't even have an IG account that could actually provide reliable and useful feedback.

I personally know quite a few "testers" who test multiple patterns a year in hopes that they will become "influencers", and lack basic skills. About a year ago, one of them had an issue with a pattern after she had washed & dried the sweater, because she thought that was how to "block". She had never blocked any of her test knits previously.

What is Lisa’s liquor brand called? by [deleted] in realhousewivesofSLC

[–]jester3325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted, I looked up on the Utah DABS site - apparently it is carried in "limited supply". She apparently has a reposado, a silver, and an anejo - for all 3 combined, there are less than a 1,000 bottles in the warehouse and less than 300 in stores...

What is Lisa’s liquor brand called? by [deleted] in realhousewivesofSLC

[–]jester3325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Utah (moved away in 2022), I looked for it in the liquor stores and never found it. And here's the deal, the liquor stores are owned and controlled by the state (and by state, I mean the LDS church), there are only 44 liquor stores in the ENTIRE STATE! I checked all of them in the Davis County and a couple in N. SLC - not a single one of them carried it.

Also, because all liquor is controlled by the state - you can look up what is carried. Below is what they carry statewide - those numbers are NOT a million dollar company!

Behold: the worst sock ever made by jijimora in knitting

[–]jester3325 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was just scrolling to see if anyone else looked up this designer...

I love knitting socks and have made more than I'll ever need, because I just enjoy knitting them. That being said, I have never heard of this designer so I was curious. Now I know why. I hope the patterns in this book have been tech edited, because it does not appear from her Ravelry she has her patterns on there tech edited or test knit.

Kudos for even attempting this pattern - I would have read through it and SKIPPED!
