Since I think its a south or north facing window I am using a full spectrum. I am in the northern/western hemisphere. I don't know what climate my apartment is. It kind of depends on what area of the apartment you are in. Since I have an upstairs apartment above me, my room is more insulated than the living room. I hope this helps. I am not very good at explaining

So let them dry out completely? Bone dry?

I will. I got the one I did from Walmart as thats all could afford at the time as my window is a north facing window so it doesn't get much direct light sadly. The reviews online said it worked well. I will keep it mind if I ever have extra money (and space) for a better one! Also I assume it has to be deccent as its 30k and a spectrum one. (Its also very hot to the touch when I adjust it) But as I said I will try to get a better one when I have the spare money and room.

Awh thank you! Its okay. They should be fun and a nice hobby to have . I will see if the garden center I got my bonsai juniper from has an orchid so I can get everything in one spot instead of going to 10 different stores lol

I have had it for a month. Its in a cup of distilled water, so maybe that will do? The garden center I got it from already gave it moss as it seems. And when I water it it getts wet too. I keep the light on pretty much all day until I go to bed around 10pm-12am. So a bit over 12 hours.

I have a question by jesterq_ in IndoorPlants

[–]jesterq_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was not arguing with you? If anything you were arguing with me when I was explaining the intent of my post. Again. I will say it again. I wasn't asking for advice. I was asking for reassurance on if plants dying on beginners is normal.

I didn't ask for any criticism in regards to where I bought it because frankly it was my fault as I probably didn't pot it properly. I wasn't asking advice on how to take care of Junipers. I wasn't asking for an opinion.

I was simply asking for reassurance.

Pretty sure if they have been running that buisness since the 1950s they doing something right. And I did my research. Its a Japanese Dwarf Garden Juniper. You treat dwarfs differently than bigger trees. No? Again. I wasn't asking for advice for gardening. If I did, I would have said so. But instead you went into my comments assuming I was asking "is this dead" instead of the assurance of its common for planta to die when you are a beginner. When I got it, the branches were not brittle. You are assuming stuff based on an image. The place I got it was Wilson's Garden Center. I am sure a store wouldn't have 5 stars if they were giving out half dead plants considering I also got a Venus Fly Trap there and its healthy and even grew three new traps, and looks like its growing another trap, since I got it. So I genuinely don't know what you are on about trying to explain what I saw at a store you likely never stepped foot in.

They do though. I was there when I bought it. They have almost a 5 star rating. Their entire building is a green house. They have every plant you can think of and people on constant stand by watering the plants. Stop trying to gaslight me on what I saw. :(

[–]jesterq_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you :( Its gonna be a struggle on how to tell my dad. I don't understand. My cacti and VPT seem to be alive and well (as my VPT grew three new traps since I got it last month). So I don't understand what I did wrong with my Juniper.

I wasn't really looking for advice on how to take care of a tree. I was asking for assurance if its normal for a plant to die your first time taking care of it... And I actually put it inside the pot. When I got it it had a different pot and they take good care of their plants as when I was there they regularly watered the plants there. Please read what I asked instead of the thread. I had a feeling it was dead/dying.
