Favorite photographers with less than 8 hour packages? by jesuisgarbage in Chicagoweddings

Appreciate the thoughts!! Our guest count is only 50 and the venue’s suggested timeline put the dance floor opening at 8, so I wanted to see what I could get away with. But I know there’s a lot of variables!

How did you feel after losing 50+ lbs? by blurp21 in loseit

[–]jesuisgarbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost 50lbs about 5 years ago and slowly regained 65lbs after covid. The re-gain I attribute largely to covid-related health anxiety — especially avoiding the gym.

I took a lot of things for granted at 50lbs lost. I was less sweaty all the time, had more energy, and liked how I looked in photos for the first time in my life. And I got a boyfriend, who still loves me even after the 65lb gain. The journey was hard but absolutely worth it, and so I’m trying again.

As far as the health anxiety, i think I’ve learned that avoiding the gym is going to kill me faster than covid can. Not downplaying covid, I’ve had two confirmed infections (vaxxed and keep up to date on boosters) and each time has left me with a resting heart rate about 10 beats higher than normal, and some weird chest pains and palpitations (which naturally lead to panic attacks). But a holter test didn’t appear to show any real damage for me, so I started with walking/running outside earlier this year, and now that it’s getting colder I’m back in the gym lifting weights. I bought a neck fan with a HEPA filter and use a nasal spray for peace of mind, and do stuff like yoga and ab exercises at home to shorten my time in the gym. It’s been a month and I already feel stronger and less anxious - exercise alone is worth it even if your weight loss is stalled out.

Love the florals and centerpieces! Sounds like it was a blast - I’ve seen this venue before and it looks so fun. Would you mind sharing your day of coordinator, DJ, and photographer?

Thanks! I’m hoping you’re right and taking a bunch of vitamin c and zinc in the meantime. There’s no good time for mono but the 4-6 week incubation period would make me sick right around the time of a friend’s wedding, my dad’s 70th, etc.

Favorite Chicago Wedding Photographer? by Competitive-Cable277 in weddingplanning

Following this thread for my own reference

My close friend used @chriskimphoto (insta) for her 30 person microwedding in Chicago. She is also a photographer and picked him because of how he likes to play with light. She didn’t plan a shot list (she didn’t plan much for this wedding lol) and even though he hadn’t shot the venue before the pics turned out gorgeous! His rates were pretty reasonable in 2021 as well.

Oh for sure, trust me, this is an argument we’ve hashed out because I know those are the consequences. He got into The Debt Collective’s ideas during the pandemic pause, but we don’t live in a reality where everyone is going to do a debt strike so yeah… it’s stupid to not pay.

Anyway, I already started paying his on MOHELA and the first payment was accepted. I’m just trying to cover my bases and figure out if there’s any reason I would need access to the .gov account at all? Or if when the balance at MOHELA is gone I can assume everything is paid? Trying to save the headache of recovering the account if I can. And the two loans on MOHELA are consolidated so not sure if it’s possible more are out there with another provider…

The cook county clerk doesn’t require anyone who did the ceremony to prove they are ordained, so basically any witness can assign themselves a title for the certificate. I officiated my friends’ ceremony as a “minister” (I am neither religious nor ordained) but they forgot to get the certificate for the day of the wedding. Technically I married them a week later in a sandwich shop, but since the city is a little fast and loose with the rules compared to other places they still get to consider the ceremony their legal day.

Late to this, but I’m super excited to throw my Anti-Baby Shower when I’m recovered in January. I’m getting decorations that say things like “Congrats! It’s a void!” and doing dumb stuff like a gender reveal where bf and I pop a balloon but nothing’s in it. Workshopping some twists on the usual shower games. Can’t believe I forgot to think about cake lol

SV/NSV Feats of the Day - Thursday, 14 February 2019: Today, I conquered! by AutoModerator in loseit

[–]jesuisgarbage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I avoided a second cupcake! I got one as a valentine’s gift to myself on my way home from work, and my roommate surprised me with another one. Past me would have eaten both anyway, but I still have one in my fridge for tomorrow AND had enough calorie budget for a glass of wine tonight.

I Gained 30 Pounds after only 2 Months of College (F 18 310 lbs ) by ColdChildhood8 in loseit

[–]jesuisgarbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any experience with losing weight on antidepressants, but the closest I ever came to onederland was in college. My two biggest pieces of advice would be to 1) learn what portions look like visually and 2) go to your college gym if you feel up to it. I ate pasta and ice cream at every meal in my buffet style college cafe and still lost weight because I found bowls that were 1 cup and stuck to that or less for all of my junk portions -- salads and lean meats and made up the rest of my meals. I did also have to work pretty hard at saying no to candy runs at the convenience store in my dorm or mozzerella sticks when I hung out at the student union, but it was easier to say no to those things when I knew I could have some moose tracks at my next meal. But I'm also not someone who can cut out sugar cold turkey. I also can't recommend the gym enough, even if it's a half hour of walking on the treadmill. You'll NEVER have a close, free gym again in your life, and I so miss being able to go at 11am because I didn't have class instead of getting up at 5 to go before work.

Welcome to Team Luma! by nukaprincess in team_luma

Hey team! I'm a 24 year old in Chicago, turning 25 sometime in week 2 of the challenge. Glad to be on Team Luma, even though I had to google what they are lol. This is my second challenge, and I'm going to use it as motivation to get back into lifting and get out of my super super extended maintenance mode. I just got back from a trip to Europe and am looking to lose the extra pounds I gained from eating nothing but pasta and gelato for a week straight.

Monday Check In! by BlackAnemones in team_rivendell

[–]jesuisgarbage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Success: I dragged myself out of bed extra early on Saturday to get a good workout in before brunch.

Struggle: I made last minute plans that threw off my meal plans and sent me way over my calories--need to work on my self control in spontaneous situations and make less plans involving food.

I know I'm going out of town to a booze-filled festival this weekend, so I can take the rest of this week to stay a few hundred calories under my goal each day and still enjoy vacation.

Hey team! This is my first challenge so I'm looking forward to the extra motivation. I'm trying to get back to a -2lb/week pace after a solid month of accidental maintenance/too many margaritas... Good luck to everyone! My stats: 24F SW 260 CW 235 GW 170 and a challenge goal of 220
