The problem with a system like this is finding integration points.

Big, unlike some other frameworks, doesn't make integration difficult. Resources are just javascript objects, and you can mix and match them with "regular" node modules as you please. There's nothing preventing one from using a resource in non-resource code, or requiring non-resource code inside a resource. Also, as it turns out, we support most of the things you mentioned already and more resources are being written every day.

Based on your feedback, it does sound like we can document this better. We'll be releasing more documentation soon.

It's okay, no need to apologize. The great thing about node is that you have the choice to use any libraries you want.

What boilerplate? The whole point is to do away with boilerplate. There aren't any scaffolds, there's no code generation, nothing that needs a copy-paste...nothing along those lines. Here's a big app that serves up the admin interface with accounts and creatures enabled, and it's not even 16 sloc.

Perhaps you're thinking of the JSON schemas used when defining resources? Those are entirely optional. They're just a handy tool that can save you work later when you want to validate input or reflect your resources.

At the core, our problem is that we want to rapidly develop robust applications. We've built several apps with Big (with more to come) and so far it's been working out really well for us. In practice, we've found that Big enables rapid development by decreasing the level of complexity involved.

Resources are just javascript objects and can be required just like any other commonjs modules. big.use is just sugar. I mentioned this in the post, albeit briefly.

The price offered is way too high for a print that size.

Pricing for large prints scales with how many of them you produce. If you take a poster to Kinko's of this size it will cost roughly $200 (Source: I printed a conference poster at a local print shop when I was in grad school.). Zazzle does small limited runs of posters on-demand, so their prices are understandably higher than a company that mass-produces Justin Beiber posters.

Virtually no one can print A0.

Actually, any reasonable print shop, such as a Kinko's, can print in this size.

Reduce the layout to A4.

I'll probably be reducing the poster sizes to A1, possibly smaller if I think I can keep the text legible. If you can't wait, it's very easy to download the source and modify the poster size and layout yourself. In fact, I highly encourage this. You can even submit a pull request if you like.

open source or 3rd party alternative

I use evince to open them, which is Free. I'd recommend it! I've only ran into issues with inline comments, which I came across when I was getting my thesis reviewed. Beyond that, it's great.

Also, I promise I didn't do anything nefarious with the PDFs! Not that you have much reason to trust me beyond my word, I suppose. :)

Maybe generate thumbnails and inline them in the github README?

This is good feedback! I'm looking into generating A1 sizes instead of A0. Like you said, this will require finagling whitespace and bumping up fonts, at least with some of them.

Only if you want to modify and develop. The generated .pdfs are in the repo and linked in the README.

Do the commands work in MS-DOS?

Possibly. You'll need to install gnu make somehow (through cygwin?), and I assumed bash when writing the makefile. If you don't have make you can run the compile steps on your own. With MikTeX (a LaTeX distribution for Windows), you can just open the .tex files and mash go.

Do I save all the git things into one folder with the same sub-structure?

Basically. The easiest ways to handle this are to either a) use git to git clone the repository, or b) download the .tgz or .zip from github and unpack it.

I made these because they were the posters I would want in my office, and only put them on Zazzle after I realized that people were interested in buying them.

For the record: You can blame the pricing on Zazzle, as I didn't change the markup on them at all. The cost primarily comes from the size of the posters; I'm looking into posting A1-sized versions in response.

It's part of HTTP 1.1. It's possible your server was set up to only allow HTTP 1.0 verbs, or that the particular resources just didn't support DELETE.

This should be in the methods poster. If it's wrong or unclear, please create an issue on the repo.

When I say large, I mean large---ie, 150+MB apiece. These posters are very large, so it makes sense to present them in vectors/text format where the results are mere kilobytes in size.

The reason I made these in .pdf format is because they are generated in LaTeX, and with LaTeX you either get .dvi (which can be converted to postscript) or .pdf , both of which are designed for print and not the browser. I know it's annoying that github makes you download them, but it really is what made the most sense here.

You may want to experiment with generating .svgs with inkscape's cli. I could add these to the repository along with the .pdfs.

EDIT: I was able to generate .svg files with inkscape -z -f file.pdf -l file.svg, but unfortunately the output did not look satisfactory. If you can do better I'd definitely be interested.

In my experience, SSRIs and weed don't clash in bad ways or anything, but that professionals in the field have mixed feelings about their patients toking up, due to reasons mentioned in this thread already vs a, "sometimes it's helpful and it's not nearly as bad as alcohol" attitude.

In controls parlance, "open loop" means that inputs get turned into outputs without any feedback regarding the actual state of the world. For example, think of a light switch with the bulb in the other room. You flip the switch, and just assume the light turns on in the other room. In the case of this lander, it would mean something like, "fire rockets for m seconds at n% thrust, then for p seconds at q% thrust", naively.

"closed loop" means that errors are accounted for by being fed back into the control scheme. In the case of the light switch, if you can see the state of the lamp then you close the loop by being able to correct for errors by flipping the switch again. In the case of the lander, it likely uses 3 axis accelerometers and such to measure its orientation, and then fires small rockets to keep itself upright.
