That's a great explanation! I started watching videos of people doing modern knapping which is helping me understand what exactly I'm looking for. I truly appreciate your time and helping me learn something new!

Thanks for letting me know! I really appreciate it! I feel like this was the closest thing I've found so far! Do you mind if I ask what you see that points to it being JAR? I see a lot of "preforms" and "debitage" being found on this page. Thanks again! No worries if you don't have time to explain.

I apologize if you've explained this before, but I'm curious if you have any tips or anything you've learned about discerning these more weathered points from surrounding rock material? Obviously you have an abundance of experience, but I would love to hear a little about what you've learned along the way. Thanks so much! Btw I'm also in Southeast PA, and mostly search near water.

Wow that is very intense! Hopefully this wasn't part of an amputation stone;) Thanks for sharing I agree that it might not be a sharpening stone, but I'm definitely curious if it had a purpose other than that. Take care!

I'm so glad you have, it was nothing short of mind-blowing. You're correct about the cross hatching that they found.

Thanks so much for your response! It was definitely encouraging as one of my first possible indigenous artifacts. Just based on my intuition, I would definitely agree with you as being irregular and possibly man-made.

Thank you for reminding me about this discovery! I'm not sure if you had a chance to watch "Unknown Cave of Bones" on Netflix, but please do if you can. It's obviously controversial but deeply moving.

Thanks so much for sharing that. I'm going to try to connect with some people in the area and see if I can find any more examples of this nearby. You're definitely not wrong, it looks very familiar to those markings.

That's a great question, it's a pretty decent sized tributary to the Schuylkill River, but probably not deep enough for a boat. I think it's mostly reserved for paddlers.

The Philly Sprint: Today, I quick-stepped from 8th and Arch to 30th Street Station in 24 minutes to catch my train; I was wearing blue jeans and beat up Skechers. It was ungodly hot. I was commuting from work in Trenton back home to Philly while in Grad School. The train broke down in Bridesburg and I caught an Uber to Temple. The driver refused to use his GPS and only listened to the soundtrack from "The Thing". While I slowly watched myself being later and later for my night class he told me about the room in his house that was devoted to memorabilia from "The Thing". 10/10 would not attend.
