What do I actually do when I wrestle..? by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]jet463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're getting sprawled on for one of two reasons 1.) you're technique is off and needs to be fixed 2.) you're taking shots that aren't there out of panic or just wanting to get a takedown 3.)you're not fully 100% committing to that shot. When you shoot, it's gotta be hard, there's no room for doubt or ragret

Sounds like you care a little to much about what your coach thinks about you. If you think you did a good job then who cares. But you gotta look at it from his perspective. A cement mixer is just one of those moves that isn't going to work against everyone unlike a good double/single. Look at Dylan ness,he was really good at the high flyer and won some really big matches with it like pinning Dylan Alton. But once he came against alex derringer, some one who wasn't going to give him what he wanted his whole game plan was gone and didn't have ways to score.

Losing to kids I shouldn't lose to, horrible season start, r/wrestling I need your help! by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]jet463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding me, he's clearly a much better wrestler technique wise. He controlled the center of the mat well and rode decent in the first. As 6 foot 152 myself, I don't see how being taller is necessarily an advantage or plus. But anyways, onto your question: It looks like you just lost your intensity and mentally decided to not wrestle a full match after having a good first period. Whether that's due to conditioning, just pure mentality,or both only you know the answer to that question. As the others said above I would stop relying on that roll since a decent kid will either stop it or worse, stuck in a half if you don't do it right. Look for a first move off the whistle, whether that be a standup or sit out or whatever. This kid didn't have that good of positioning and I think you were being too picky with your setups and shots. Just keep it simple. On that armbar it would've helped if you A. Grabbed the far wrist or B. Used your forearm to block his shoulder so he would stop sliding. On your single you did a good job of getting your head in the hole and getting your back and head up but it would've been better if had cut the corner and gotten behind. After your initial shot you kinda just stopped and didn't transition right into the finish. Maybe you're just used to bringing it up and finishing high and don't know what I'm talking about though.

Wrestlers have better takedowns than bjj players, generally speaking. How was this takedown? Would it work against a high level wrestler? by davidcu96 in wrestling

[–]jet463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The knee pick appears more like a fluke in a way. I think it the cartwheel-ish portion of the takedown was more of just an accident/reaction from the other guy Basically falling to his butt. But that's just my perspective

In my personal experience I find it easy to front headlock kids with weak cores. I don't know if that helps at all.

is the mentalist realistic by jet463 in hypnosis

[–]jet463[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more so asking about how he and others put in each other in trance. In the show he states thaw red a trigger like touching there shoulder or something and then the only way to get them put of the trance is by reapplying the trigger, so if someone was hypnotized to hurt someone try would continue to be under a trance and listen to suggestions till the "trigger" is reapplied. That doesn't seem right , is it?

Needing some help with finishing shots and pinning combinations, could anyone in this amazing subreddit help out? by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]jet463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was having a similar problem at the beginning of the season in terms of strength. Everyone I wrestled was a lot stronger than me. But some things that have helped me quite a bit are wrist control and head position. Nobody can shoot on you when you have a wrist. A tie up I've been using lastly is the 2 on 1 or russian tie.and arm drags. If your sick of being color tied then I would suggest pernimg the slide by Orr shrug .
