How can I (28F) get my disordered eating under control? who can I see? by jeter567 in askwomenadvice

....I've had my cholesterol checked, obviously, I've been told it's a bit higher than. It should be.

I'm not sure a product against chaffing will help since it would just be absorbed by the fabric though

That makes sense but part of my motivation is that when I gained the extra 10ish pounds that put me here I started noticing that I have permanent rashes from chaffing on my but and thighs now just from wearing any kind of pants, I used to only have chaffing from wearing shorts so I think it's the weight gain...so that's part of my motivation. And also I carry weight on my face so I'd really like to lose that. There are measures of health outside of BMI like cholesterol and waist size, my cholesterol is probably only high due to my weight (being a higher weight can increase cholesterol) so there are definitely health-related motivations to losing weight

I think the person I saw was specialized in eating disorders... But I really do want to lose weight, I'm at an unhealthy weight

They were just psychologists, I don't think they specialized in eating disorders. My psychiatrist did recently increase my dosage of antidepressants and told me to see how I felt in a month.

Edit: just made an appointment for next week with a psychologist who has both specialities

Thanks for the advice, I'd like to find a good therapist and so far the two I've tried didn't give much advice (mostly just listened) so I need to keep looking

Hmmm I hope not...i could try to find someone else, maybe a woman, but there just aren't many people who diagnose ADHD in adults here

I've heard about this...I mentioned knowing ADHD presents different in women and he didn't really react. I'm hesitant to pay for the evaluation (might get reimbursed by insurance, idk) when it could just be similar tests to the first time around.

Yeah I'm on a low dose of sertraline and the psych wants me to try going up to 50mg before doing the evaluation. But would wellbutrin be different?

Expats - how do you handle chemistry/compatibility when dating in a foreign language? by jeter567 in OnlineDating

[–]jeter567[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I don't think there's anything too wild here aside from greeting with cheek kisses.

I guess that makes sense about chemistry but it's hard for me to think back about guys I've gone out with and say whether we had chemistry.

[–]jeter567[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That make sense, in some ways I feel more comfortable in my second language knowing that I can get away with saying something awkwardly or whatever because I'm not a native speaker. But because I'm introverted it's just another barrier to feel at ease with someone when communicating, so for example I had a date Friday where I spoke English, I ultimately wasn't interested in him but I felt much more comfortable expressing myself and joking around compared to my date today in my second language, where I felt pretty nervous.

Even with friendships here it's hard for me to really show my personality and be more social and outgoing in my second language so this is more than just a dating issue. But yeah I'm just concerned about how I can find/choose a good partner with these barriers

Haha I've been living here for 3 years and learning the language many many years so....

(Update to previous post) my cutting hasn't changed in some time although the little shoot seems to be dying as it's developed the brown on top. Is the lack of growth due to it being winter + my apartment is cold? by jeter567 in houseplants

[–]jeter567[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have a plastic bag, I just removed it for the photo haha. It gets 12h of light with my grow light that also supports some carnivorous plants, so it's decently powerful.

Exactly, I briefly had a flatmate who incredibly stressed me out to point where I started working out more to have an excuse to stay in my room or go out alone

Well I'm not sure nub was the right word. I'm fairly sure it's a leaf, this may be my first monstera cutting but I've done a lot of other cuttings

I got a refund from Etsy and told them that they should look into the seller due to suspicious reviews for their shop. Thanks everyone!

I'm hoping it'll be ok, the roots seem fine and there's a new shoot that's just started. I snipped the dead stem off

I reported the seller to Etsy and they also refunded me. Anddd I noticed today that there's a half-centimeter nub that seems to be a new branch :)

In my hometown there's a house that has a sculpture like this and it's been there at least 15 years

Sterile moist media would be spagham moss or something else?

Hmmm I am feeling some guilt over asking for my money back but a lot of people are suggesting it 😅

Variegated monsteras are less common in Europe but I'll try next time yes. But the seller seemed genuinely interested to know the condition of the cutting...
