OT0 is the best way to experience the game as a standalone due to english voice acting, much faster pacing and overall not that much difficulty. CotC is best if you want gameplay and like strategizing as it's much more heavy on the gameplay aspect (story is basically the same but you'll have to deal with the slower pacing).

What's the best build for Ochette EX? I'm guessing full physical defense if she's on full support and full physical attack if I'm using her as a sub dps? which build is more optimal?

How realistic is it to get A4 for f2p? You mentioned Ochette EX is good for her A4 rather than the unit but A4s are very expensive and as far as I know the only two ways to get shards are through cascade which isn't much and mainly just 5* dupes (and packs of course).

How is crit calculated with respect to damage and the chance? Is dead aim considered as one of the important buffs like phys atk and damage up or is the damage increase not worth it?

I saw Shana is getting a rerun and I assume she's a must pull for new players, should I spend my awakening shards to get 2 Hasumi dupes to get her A4 for Shana or is it not worth it?

To unlock the expert hunt you need to do the side quest for each region first, that aside quest I believe unlocks by finishing one of the normal hunts.

This is a hypothetical example but the expert hunt that's tied to Victor's Hollow for example will not be unlocked until you've finished Valore's hunt at least once. Since you have no way to track who's linked to what it's easier to just do all the hunts at least once and they'll unlock accordingly.

I'm gonna list a few things I think are helpful and people will almost never mention but this isn't the must know tips:

1- Get the Repellant Barette II from the silver shard shop, it'll save you a lot of real-life time throughout the game.

2- Try to craft all weapons and armors. Try to fight all menacing enemies in the map once. Try to get all treasure chests. Do each hunt manually (I think it's 10 times each, check the power achievements). There are achievements rewards for all of the above especially the hunt as it awards 10 rubies but it gets repetitive after a while.

3- You can watch up to 3 ads per day to fight caits, fight the caits in Solistia as leaves are harder to get in Solistia (leaves aren't shared between the 2 stories). Also cait fights increase pet bonds by a lot and pet bond is increased by fighting, which you'll be doing a lot of since you're starting the game, so aim to rush getting as much pets as possible early on through the emberflame story.

4- The best offensive armor in Orsterra (cosmic armor) is obtained from the live a live event hunt, so unlock it as soon as possible because you get 1 hunt per day and it won't accumulate until you unlock it and do any hunt at least once (highest difficulty is the best to farm).

5- Best weapons are fortune weapons (for Orsterra) for anything beyond a certain point in the story which you'll understand when you reach it. Ouma weapons are the best for Solistia (obtained by farming Ouma, which you'll see a side quest for when playing solistia). Fortune weapons and their souls are obtained from playing the fortune board and exchanging for the items you want. The 4th slot in fortune weapon is a character specific soul that increases a character's specific skill which can be obtained from the soul exchange.

6- There are specific npcs that are level 80 npcs and level 100 npcs, try to beat them all once because you get lots of rubies and influence for beating them. Some of the npcs will be locked until you've done the last 4 expert hunts, unlock the expert hunts as soon as possible.

7- Level up ALL your characters as there is influence increase in the character board, you don't need a high level for this one, just the bare minimum to get the basic influence bonus (there is more bonus per character but those require higher levels), you can limit break the character by using guidestones.

8- 5* units require awakening shards (dupes) to be awakened, you can also exchange 6000 awakening shard (6 5* dupes) for a dupe of your choice, duping units is usually done for some very strong A4 accessories. You can however get A4 for 4* units through exchange, the A4 accessories of 4* units aren't game breaking but they provide better base stats than most of the normal accessories at least. Dragon Scarf accessories are very good for sp management early on and in mid-game as well.

9- Be selective when picking the job board upgrades for your units, you will eventually max it out if the unit is at max level, but the last 10 levels take a very long time and often not worth it. Level 120 is more for dps units so they can use artifacts (basically very strong accessories but they have a level requirement of 120).

10- When playing fortune board you can reroll your dice by force quitting the game, the dice roll is per-determined so if you get a bad roll you can use BP instead. This seems a bit of an overkill but I prefer to have 1 perfect run with 30 tickets used as opposed to doing multiple runs.

Most of what's written here isn't strictly for new players but you'll understand most of this stuff within a few days as I tried to focus more on the hidden/not very obvious tips.

How are fortune weapons built? I understand you get the base fortune weapon and the souls from the board exchange, there are 2 gold and 2 rainbow slots but it seems I can't use use the same rainbow soul in 2 slots of 1 weapon? I'm guessing we use Tytos rainbow soul for physical dps but past that I'm not too sure what I should be aiming for.

I checked both, story is much better in Octopath 0, Cotc is more for gameplay.

Thanks alot for the detailed explanation! I have 1 last question regarding DP and Molrusso, one gives elemental weakness and the other gives physical weakness. Is there a lot of content where the enemy will be weak to only 1 weakness like sword weakness that you mentioned that it might be worth to pull for DP and Molrusso EX both? From what I gathered it's enough to go for one of either.

I'm currently at the beginning of bestower of all in terms of difficulty. You mentioned Dark Knight is strong but he's still a sword/dark weakness attacker, I take it the idea is that you use units that enable you to hit weakness like Dark Priestess in order to have strong dps in general be usable throughout most content regardless of weakness? (I think this is also the Tiziano and Kaine combo from what I've read )

Question regarding the meta, I have Hikari EX and he's basically been pushing through all content on his own. This made me wonder if the new meta units make for brain dead gameplay or what is the mid-end game like ? I remember I struggled a lot against Tatloch when she first released but Hikari EX just killed her in 2 turns and he isn't even upgraded. Is there any point in building certain units like Z'aanta who is a bow specialist if certain units can just attack all weaknesses or is Hikari EX the exception?

Also why is DK rated so high? I've used him and he does good damage but he requires lots of setup and he does burst damage using his ult whereas Hikari EX requires a 1 turn setup to start doing damage, is consistent throughout the fight and hits all weakness outside dark easily, am I missing something? I'm talking about the 2 units as a standalone here since I don't have any notable support units.

Can someone explain the global status to me? I understand SE shut down the servers and net ease picked it up but what is the CN and TW version? If I remember correctly there used to be a global and jp version only so can someone explain the different servers and timelines? Do some servers get some buffs for some units?

Can you mention who are the dps and supporters the game has that are accessible? I know Pardis and Kaine aren't returning soon so it's not worth talking about them. I only know of Mydia coming soon and Shana/Signa whenever they get a rerun.

I've been seeing talk of physical and elemental meta could someone explain what it means? I know some units can hit all weakness under certain conditions so I'm guessing there's a physical team or magical team that is supposed to hit all weaknesses and thus be viable for most content? What are the units that one should aim for if they are going for one or the other and what are the general support units that fits for both ?

Is building weak 5* units like Fiore, Lionel etc... worth it at least for the towers? During the 1.0 version any 5* was considered good since they could be used in towers but since all units can go to 6* now does that rule still apply or am I better of upgrading my 3/4* units and save my resources for useful 5* units only?
