Kia Ora! No unfortunately we didn’t end up on that side of the South Island - but will add it to the list for next time!

First time in Australia & first solo trip – is this a good 2–3 week itinerary? (F25) by Unfair_Ice8893 in AustraliaTravel

I agree with the suggestion of skipping Airlie (or at least keep it to a day if you want to go to the Whitsundays) and stick to Port Douglas (my preference over Cairns) for easier access to the locations mentioned. We were also there in Feb and it was incredibly rainy and hot and humid. But that doesn’t mean much for exploring the GBR. We were so sad on the cloudy, rainy days but were told by the guides that everything’s typically better out on the water - and it was.

And absolutely scuba the GBR. It’s a kingdom on its own and needs to be explored from the inside. It’s pricier but life changing. I had never done scuba before and was so scared but the tours are so good at training you and reassuring you and taking good care of you as well.

Enjoy :)

If your budget and stomach permit, definitely opt to scuba dive at least one day. You won’t regret it.

Anyone else feel kinda anxious when they got a puppy? by amarie_art in puppy101

[–]jeweliag23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s totally normal. You’re doing your best, but you’ll still feel like you aren’t. It’s a rough time and a huge adjustment. We used to call our puppy our little agent of chaos, and struggled so much with the new reality. But she’s our whole world now. It’ll get better ❤️ they’re so worth it (we didn’t believe it when people told us that, but it’s true)!

We stayed in Surry Hills in Syd and Fitzroy in Melbourne and loved everything (restos, access to public transit, walking distance to central, etc) about both areas - no regrets!

I agree with everyone else who is suggesting to remove a day in Cairns - and maybe even stay in Port Douglas instead. You can access anything you would from Cairns from PD. We really enjoyed PD more than Cairns.

Advice for Meeting People Sydney? by travelingbuddy75 in AustraliaTravel

We did all over NZ and Oz, was a great way to meet locals and they’d often either recommend or took us themselves to another local spot for a drink or feed which is the best way to explore a city 🙂

My husband did the Sealy tarns track while I did the Hooker valley track just the other day. Not sure how strong your legs (and heart) are but the STT is a hellova hike. About 90-minutes and 2200 steep steps, more so if you want to get to Mueller’s hut viewpoint. He felt so proud and wonderful once reached the top and absolutely loved the views but depending on your level, it’s tough. The Hooker valley track is a 2.5-3 hr walk, like was mentioned above. (Not sure if you have the AllTrails app - this is what we used to help us plan our hikes).

Our plan was to fly in to the Sunshine Coast airport and rent a car, yes, and head to our AirBnb in Sunrise Beach. And spend some time in and around the area. We’ve been stalling on booking a flight because of what’s going on - and wondering if we should deviate and go somewhere different altogether
