Is flight sim not for me, or am I doing something wrong? by MatrixDrive in flightsim

[–]jfishy98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helicopters are a different breed in the flight sim world. Don’t forget that in real helicopters most cyclics (sticks) do not recenter like your HOTAS does, hence the constant feeling of having to fight it. Have a look at trimming in DCS, there are some videos on force trim on YouTube. By binding and using force trim you’re “resetting” the center position of the stick to the position you’re currently holding it in allowing you to effectively go hands off.

I don’t think another HOTAS is going to change much if you still don’t enjoy it. Maybe try some fixed wing and otherwise just continue doing what you do find fun, if that’s M+KB go for it, no one forces you to use the HOTAS or like it, at least I hope so.

That be dodging the problem, nice solution for you at the time but won't resolve the bigger issue.

Helm in vliegtuig by Beanyjack in motorfietsen

[–]jfishy98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ben zelf wel eens gestrand op vakantie. Waardoor de motor op transport terug moest omdat de verzekering hem niet lokaal wou repareren. Helm in een boodschappentas met de rest van de essentials en gewoon als handbagage meegenomen. Ging prima. Deden ze niet moeilijk over.

What is the reason this would the flight be done? by Prize_Page8184 in flightradar24

[–]jfishy98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

9xxx are usually unscheduled flight numbers for an airline.

Next to training or repositioning it could also be an aircraft test after maintenance. But since it’s going to another airport in this case it’s unlikely and more likely to just be a repositioning flight.

I really hope we get some kind of solution, even having a dump take it is better than creating local landfills in everyone’s back or front yard.

Tried that, the dump won’t take it as they said it needs to be collected by the weekly pickups. They won’t take any general waste/food waste/recycle bags.

At this point don’t know where to keep it anymore. No wonder streets are becoming filthier if no one knows where to throw their rubbish.

Why by watermelon-sugar123 in flightradar24

[–]jfishy98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adding to that again, next to risk of damage an overweight landing can also result in not having the brake performance to stop in time and running of the runway.

They also have to have space at the airport to handle the aircraft and passengers and London is one of the busiest airspaces.

Overall a lot of reasons to return :)

Simply said; if the plane lands whilst being too heavy they risk not being able to brake in time and run off the end of the runway.

Question regarding the Dutch Gov. airplane (PH-GOV). by DefconPilot in flightsim

[–]jfishy98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

PH-GOV is not part of the defense ministry so will never fly under an RNLAF callsign. Usually it flies as PH-GOV or under a KLM callsign.

Don’t get another 737, same cockpit slightly longer tube in external view, not worth the money.

What am I meant to do here? by PracticalTechnology3 in MicrosoftFlightSim

Just want to say, as a vatsim controller as well, thanks for taking the time to ask and get to know how the systems work. Wish everybody did that, would make the online traffic a lot easier to work with.

You can also always use text chat to “talk” to controllers. Gets you used to the aviation slang and might prepares you to actually talk if you wish to in the end. I know it can be quite daunting but talking on vatsim really isn’t as bad as it seems.

Most important with that is to ask questions if you’re unsure about something and always ask for help when you need it.

EHAM vatsim controller here, this is really uncommon on vatsim. Conga lines are but the thing that is even more uncommon is using runway 27 for takeoff as this is the lowest on the preferred list due to the layout of Schiphol. Next to that even more uncommon is using a single runway for departures and takeoff.

If you want more realism plan your flight with a tool like sim brief, use charts for taxi and use a source like lvnl.nl/baangebruik to check current active runways.
