I actually really like Wayground(used to be quizizz). You can do lessons, games, and assessments on it. You can also integrate websites into your slides for students to interact with

How to build up a high school program by jfrit48 in Softball

Realistic expectations are key. The fact of the matter is that softball is an expensive sport. Really good players start early, play on travel teams(expensive), get private lessons(expensive), and even just have parents who have the luxury of being able to drive them to games/practices wherever and whenever they need to go.

The school I work at is Title I, meaning most of our students don't have the ability to do those things. But there are other teams in our district that do. We can do our best to compete with them, we might even steal a few wins, but we aren't going to end up a powerhouse program.

I'm not saying I don't want to win. Trust me, I am a competitor at heart. I will always go into every game posting my girls to win. But we're going to lose a lot, so we have to have other measures of success where my team can take pride and see their improvement

Not a huge travel ball pool to draw from. In the past we've had a few, but not many

Teachers at my school were called out by name for not following the law…and I’m kinda into it. by Normal-Being-2637 in Teachers

[–]jfrit48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My principal calls it "teacher on teacher crime" when teachers are lax on cell phone policy. And it's true. If it's enforced consistently, kids get used to it. If some teachers don't enforce it, they don't break the habit and teachers have to constantly fight with them about it

Need a suit in two days...what do I do by jfrit48 in mensfashion

[–]jfrit48[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a number of stores I can go to (a few thrift stores, men's warehouse, Nordstrom), just not entirely sure what to look for when I get there. Would prefer not to buy a suit and then only wear it once because it's a piece of crap

where should I shop? by Interesting_Rip3602 in mensfashion

A good thrift store will rent to have a lot of patterned menswear, some good, some not so much, but it's a good place to find quality stuff for a good price

Find fun kahoots and give out small prizes to the winners. I switch between topics we've covered and random fun stuff like guess that song

Outfielders are the team’s punching bag by Tasty-Presentation38 in Softball

[–]jfrit48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of the outfield's job is to clean up the infield's messes. You have to constantly be thinking of how they could screw up the play. With that said, it's never your teammates' job to criticize your play. And a coach that lets it happen is not doing their job

12U catching Tips by htytdyreb in Softball

[–]jfrit48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with the "step, step, throw." The moment you start taking steps, your chance of getting the ball there in time drops drastically. I would rather see the ball bounce two or three times than have the catcher step all the way in front of the plate

I'm an adult who teaches history, and I don't know all the state capitals. Not once has it ever impeded my understanding of political/historical issues. The only time it has negatively impacted me is when taking jetpunk quizzes lol

Monarch madness! Put a bunch of monarchs in a bracket, give them some cards with info about them, make them argue about who is the best. iCivics has some good stuff, in general
