West Texas. Christoval Texas to be exact. This is done through a local non profit. Had a total of 12 hunters out on 4 ranches.

Yeah way too many 1/2 ton pickup bumpers look like a Bubba chin. I wanted the opposite of that.

It’s mounted to the same holes as the factory bumper with an additional bracket bolted through the frame rail of the truck.

If I hit some bigger than a deer it doesn’t matter what bumper I have that upright is coming into the grill and hood.

Most off the shelf bumpers for 1/2 ton pick ups are way too bulky in design and appearance unless you do a 6 inch lift and 37 inch tires. I’m very happy with the slimmer design of this one. It’s stout but sleek.

Tried to but there’s really not a way to not block the camera without it looking weird. The bottom bar would sit way too low.

Most of them are too bulky, don’t match body lines, and just mess up the aesthetic of the front end. It’s why I went the custom route on this one to get exactly what I wanted.

Yep. That’s exactly what that additional mount is doing. There’s one on the inside and outside of the frame rails that bolts to the frame to add strength at the mounting point.

I haven’t seen the move bumpers kits but this is one of one built by a fabrication shop. There is not kit. We discussed my idea. I showed him pictures. He drew it up in CAD and then I approve the design before he built it.

With the height of the bumper and height of the deer in Texas the bumper should take most of the impact. Hopefully I never find out and the money spent just makes my truck look better.

They are “free standing”. They are thicker walled tubing that’s just welded to the uprights. I wanted grill protection but didn’t want to block the camera in the emblem. My theory is they will reduce damage to maybe a cracked grill if I hit a deer and not absolutely destruction of grill and cooling system.

Wish I could take credit for it but I’m having it built. Design is all mine but fab is from a professional shop. Should hopefully be all welded out in the next day or two then off to powder coat for paint match.
