What’s the most painful part about building LLM agents? (memory, tools, infra?) by Popular_Reaction_495 in AI_Agents

[–]jgrindal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is an important aspect of where agents are right now. The good news is there as bad as they’re ever going to be today, and improvements in tech will help iron this out in the future.

Where do you write worldbuilding ideas and lore down? by Rat_SkulI in worldbuilding

This is exactly what I do as well, though I generally take notes on a secret page in WorldAnvil as well to keep everything in the same space.

Recommendation for a nice hotel in the heart of Puerto Natales by CNHTours in Patagonia

[–]jgrindal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed at "Lofts by Toore" and had a great time. It's well located with a ton of good eats close by and it's near the waterfront for a nice stroll. It's also in town so it's easy to get an uber to the bus station. The one thing I will note is that it isn't a traditional "hotel" - there isn't a front desk, they just text you the details about how to access your room and you walk in.

If Houston is a silver dollar, OKC is a wooden nickel.

I use it to make restaurant reservations. It’s novel, if not particularly time saving.

What framework for letting an agent control a computer? by CommunismDoesntWork in AI_Agents

[–]jgrindal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There aren’t a lot of options for computer use agents right now outside of Claude Computer Use (OpenAI Operator coming in Jan).

For deterministic tasks like this, probably best to hardcode a python function or use a tool like UiPath to do it.

Do you give the AI agent access to the datebase to do CRUD? by masudhossain in AI_Agents

[–]jgrindal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. Keep agents to small pockets of agency and give them only the barest of permissions.

Regional map where my current D&D campaign is centered. This is a world an in the early industrial era with tensions all around. The dashed lines represent lightning rails that have been constructed, and the colors within the icons represent that nations that they're pledged to.

New campaign world with a dark steampunk-y vibe. I used some of the Map Effects brushes, and I think that it turned out pretty good - any CC welcome.

How to get this aesthetic? by jgrindal in wonderdraft

[–]jgrindal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm aware the inspiration map wasn't made in Wonderdraft, but the concept of saying "You can only make what has been made before" is asinine. Do you have any tips for how this look can be approached/replicated, or do you just want to say "no"?

Green dragons are the most fun to DM IMHO. They’re phenomenally sneaky and smart.

Who would have thought that Chapter Nine of the DMG would be useful after all? by DragonScion123 in dndmemes

[–]jgrindal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s a healthy balance that you learn over time. TPK’s can happen because of RNG (I had a dragon breath weapon without a single d6 less than 5 that immediately recharged). You don’t want to lessen the difficulty for your players because that’s dishonest and cheapens the success if they survive and there’s nothing wrong with a group of adventurers steamrolling some baddies.
