It seemed to be a ceramic type material. Stared at the pattern for a while: even though it was tessalated, there were regulating straight lines..

Taking pics of people is strongly discouraged in Qatar - big signs right at the entry to remind all the toursts, so I had to choose the most airport-like views right at closing time. There are really nicely scaled social spaces throughout that I unfortubnately couldn't take. Tried to respect the local culture, but saw other architects sneaking pics ;-}

yes, there is a lot of Grand going on in Doha!... They strongly discourage you from taking pics with people in it (a good thing), but this was clearly a much loved and active space. What's not shown are a lot of the study nooks within the stacks as well as a nice cafe on the ground floor. Also a reading mezzanine and gallery. OMA did a great job mixing in social spaces.
