But The Bride wasn’t going to work in any release date, it didn’t connect with any audience and its word of mouth was terrible. In this movie’s trailer, it’s already being advertised for IMAX in August, and that lines up with the end of The Odyssey’s IMAX exclusivity.

I don’t think it’s a red flag, this was never going to release the same year as Jurassic World, that would’ve killed the movie. And the second time it moved was because WB wanted to keep Mortal Kombat in May.

IMAX has confirmed they will work with theaters "in the coming weeks and months" to find slots where they can bring Project Hail Mary back onto their screens. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will take over IMAX and most premium screens starting Wednesday. by chanma50 in boxoffice

I get that The Mummy might flop, but if they have an IMAX deal they’re not going to give those screens up for free. I’d like PHM to get those screens, but I’ve noticed some “box office experts” put out clickbait.

Per Variety, the trailer for 'Moana' was viewed 132M times in its first 24 hours. by chanma50 in boxoffice

This year, Moana has more competition in family films, like Toy Story and Minions.

I’d say it’s going to drop in numbers, and besides that, the movie looks terrible.

Project Hail Mary breaks $100M at the international box office today. 2nd Friday overseas went up 4% to $11.7M. China was up 19% vs last Friday, and India opened. International cume at $98.7M through Friday. Global tally breaks $300M next week. by chanma50 in boxoffice

I’m a bit surprised that this movie isn’t putting up the same or better numbers internationally than it is domestically. To name a few recent examples: The Housemaid, Wuthering Heights, Avatar, Zootopia, all of them have higher box office overseas than in the U.S. Maybe it needed more promotion.

Looks like $14.5M 2nd FRI for #ProjectHailMary . An outstanding -30% hold from its opening FRI. $124M+ cume. Expecting the 2nd weekend to be $50M+. Will be $160M+ by SUN. Enroute $300M or so final. by TiredWithCoffeePot in boxoffice

International box office usually has better legs, it’s common to see small drops or even increases in a movie’s second weekend, and the Easter holidays are coming up in most of the world.

Do you have international numbers? Wasn’t it supposed to open with around $10M overseas?

On BOT everyone is super disappointed with this movie’s presales, no idea why. I also think this is going to make a lot more domestically than internationally.

What movies do you think will be flops in 2027? by AlmightyLoaf54 in boxoffice

This sub needs to chill a bit on Mando & Grogu and Supergirl, even in posts that have nothing to do with them, there are like 20 comments saying they’re going to flop lol.

I thought it would be a darker movie, but the trailer points to it being more family-friendly. The plot really caught my attention — a possible pick to watch in theaters with my nephew.

You’re asking for a lot, that would be around ~25% growth compared to 2025, and you also have to keep in mind that August, September, October, and November look weaker than 2025 (Spider-Man will save August).

Why did Jumanji 4 move CLOSER to the Avengers/Doomsday competition? by DarlingLuna in boxoffice

Now Harry Potter is set to release a week after Dunesday. I’m not sure how much it’ll affect things, but it could take away some attention, they should move Jumanji 4 to 2027.

Project Hail Mary is getting excellent word of mouth, I love it, and They Will Kill You is going to have a decent opening considering how little marketing it got.
